2x600w hps in 2x1m tent...overkill?

Hiya
I have a mate who has massive medical needs, and i mean massive, consequently he grows a shit-ton of herb.
He currently has 3 2x1m tents with 2x600w hps in each tent. He has enourmous bills which he cant afford, also doesnt have cool tubes so it gets insanely hot, possibly why he has major mould issues, he lost probably 30% of last grow to budrot.
He has much more experience than me but his grow just seems kinda messed up - 2x600w in 2x1m tents seems like overkill to me for one thing.
Whaddy reckon?

I think He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.......Grow tent's should be replaced by Black/White poly over the Windows. Happy Plant's have to have room to grow and airflow to keep heat and excess Humidity away.The more fans the better..I reckon He's buying the mass quantities that You mentioned and selling it as His own.

Also - it’s about training your plant to use the maximum footprint of the light. In this case the top canopy.

Believe it’s called SoG. He could look into that if he doesn’t do it already.

So 1 600w hps is enough for a 1x2m tent?
I just think he could go much smaller, and maximise the space better and reduce the work (he spends his time mixing nutes and hand watering 3 times a day).
He also thinks, and i cant figure out why he thinks this, is that inside his garage, it will be too cold from Autumn to spring. Too cold - and he is cooking his plants with 1200w hps and no ventilation. Surely - open the tent and the cooler ambient air will reduce the crazy heat in his tent??

So what about 2 of them in that space, do you think that is too much?
He used to have 4 plants under each 600 so 4 plants in 1x1m, he has decided there isn't enough ventilation (hence the rot) so he said he'll now have just 2 under each so 4 plants in each 2x1m tent. I guess it should be an improvement...

Love the attitude bro!
He can't afford fans. He seems to think hps lamps are fine without fans, pretty much every grow journal I've seen with hps have a cool tube or smt similar...

If his heat probs are bad just go with 2 400 watt hps will cover it all nice evenly and it’s gonna have less heat

i ran 2 600's in a 2.4m tent with only an exhaust fan pulling air out and back in to my house with a big ass carbon filter........ not the smartest idea but it work. average temps out side 20's or lower. in the house constant 23 as the lights ran at night. tons of humidity which i had a dehumidifier runing to stop the walls dripping in the winter in the crap hole i lived in at the time.

If he knows he has issues but refuses to fix them then let his grow die so he can change his mind.

He needs more airflow. Less light won't matter if he is keeping the tents sealed up like some crazy person.

He's broke so wont be buying any new lamps. If i could get him just to use 3 of the 600w that would be a help...

Tell him go on amazon.com and apply for a STORE credit card from them. This is what I did. It lets me get all the supplies I need on credit for doing jobs for my clients until they pay me. It also helps in emergencies when you need equipment badly. They approve you easy.

Amazon has given me the ability to expand as a professional without needing outside investors or starting money. Hated by retail stores nationwide lol.

Edit: Same for Home Depot if you need grow room building supplies.

vent the tent externally which will solve the heat and humidity issues tell him to fork out for one fan only option in my eyes
