ive looked at the "sun clock" in mexicao, india, afghanistan etc. and they most sun they get is 14 hours during the solstice, not 18 hours. also it decreases each month by an hour until it finally reaches 12 hours at the end of september. mexico gets less sun, believe it or not.Only if they're autoflowering. 12/12 still triggers most autoflowering strains to flower, but they'll never revegitate (reveg), even under 24/0.
If they're not autoflowering, you've gotta cover 'em every night. Dark time is of more importance than light time. As long as they're covered for 8+ hours/night, they should flower. 12/12 is a recognized standard, but a lot of strains don't need a full 12 hours dark. Takes 10-14 days of light deprivation to show flowers.
this is why i think my windowsill grow is going to work. fingers crossed.
