I treat soil like a camel. Only let them have water when they ABSOLUTELY OBVIOUSLY NEED IT. It forces those roots to stretch, forcing them to search for water. And I've also found that the roots are thinner, but 5X more of them. Make those haughty girls find the water.Ain't none of you marijuana experts over-watering are you?
Heck I give my 6" pots a half pint once a week
My 5 quart pots get 1 quart
My 5 gallon buckets get 2 quarts to a gallon, this summer it's been taking about 6 days, in the winter might go over 2 weeks between watering
Hey that is a VERY good tip. I'm gonna go do this now. What always works for me.
A proper watering session always consumes 25-30% of the pot size. So let’s say you’re using a 3 GALLON pot. A good slow soak 8-13 minute watering session, will usually cause the pot to absorb around 2-3 QUARTS with a small amount of run off at the end. (3-5oz).
My 4 gallon pots get 1 gallon each watering. 5 gallons pget 1.25 gallons.
The only thing that changes is the watering FREQUENCY depending on how the plant is pulling up water based on its size/growth rate.
Best watering practice is water SLOWLY and evenly, with 2-3 minutes inbetween to allow even saturation. (Think of light/medium rain in nature).
My watering session of 4 plants usually takes 19-26min.
THIS is actually a pretty good answer. Most people go crazy with this answer. You must of been getting more runoff than what stayed in the pot unless your mix was 10 times as dense as mine.
What kind of dirt are you using?
1 gallon of water in a 3 gallon pot, with an established plant, is 2 or so days between waterings. Temps being reasonable
I like this. Kinda like, I know I know, 12 autos in a 4x4. I just train the plant so they all have even canopy. And then just harvest the main colas. I'm not a big smoker, so I prefer multiple options, smaller amounts with dense donkey dick top buds. What always works for me.
