3 of my 5 plants hermied with pollen pods, need to spray with switch, but...

3 of my 5 plants hermied on me, all of them acapulco gold. This happened about a week or two after I flipped to flower. There's plenty of reasoning behind why they did, but that's not what I am here trying to figure out. I decided to use optic foliar switch to try to stop the problem (on top of plucking all of the pollen pods that popped up). So to use it, I don't know if I'm supposed to spray on the pre-flowers or not. I can't find anything about that when looking it up. I would assume so, since some of the pods are below the bud sites. My pre-flowers are looking good though, so I have no intention on giving up on them. Just a little confused on how to go about this.

So what do you guys think? Should I apply optic foliar switch/transport all over the plant, including the buds?

Hehe. Oh no, they are totally pollen sacs. Been doing plenty of study and research on growing, and double checked to make sure they were what I thought they were. I was gonna take pics / video of it, but lost my camera card. But good call, I actually visited a post of someone else freaking out about what he thought was nanners, but they were just calyxes. Sadly not the case for me though
So what say you? Safe to spray on young flowers in week 1-2?

It's why I refuse to smoke any bud but my own! It's amazing what 'stuff' people throw on plants and then sell

i thought the use of Ethephon (ingridient of switch) was authorized by the EPA on various edible crops like watermelon (even on tobacco, but that shit has cyanide too lol so, not really a standard to go by - but it is approved for various edible ones). Also, toxicity is considered medium (skin irritation) and it evaporates quickly - converting to ethylene, which is a natural plant hormone no longer toxic. Im curious, why dont you guys like it?

Ive never used it, but ive been reading about it because one of my genetics is known to hermie... I have thought about using as prevention on early flower weeks (but I havent decided yet).

Just found a study of ethephon on rats... not looking very positive (for regular consumption):

"Scientists have reported that regular consumption of artificial-ripened fruits may cause dizziness, weakness, skin ulcer, and heart- and liver-related diseases"

Great info, thanks guys! Does anyone have experience in using switch/reverse type foliar sprays? I have 3 options right now. Kill off 3 of my 5 plants, check for sacs/nanners every few days for the next 6+ weeks, or use optic foliar switch/transport to rescue them from their hermaphroditic condition.
I think I want to go the route of spraying them. This is my second grow, and the furthest I've ever gotten. I'm a victim of coicumstance with they started spewing out pollen pods.

I am just hoping someone else who used this kind of spray before to weigh in on whether I should spray my young flowers. I just don't see how I can avoid spraying them. If I do go for just the vegetative growth, will it still affect the plants after absorption the way that I want to, or would I have to spray the spots where sacs/nanners would form?
