3 Plants, 3 Problems

Hey guys, I started my second crop EVER 4 weeks ago, and I am having a few issues. Now, I germinated 4 seeds. 3 survived transplant into soil medium. Of those 3, one is growing like a champ, one has a yellow leaf issue, and the third has SEVERELY stunted growth and the leaves have been curled since the 2nd week.

All 3 were planted in 2litre bottles and are using a 4-1 Miracle-Gro/Perlite grow medium. (I used the same type of medium on my last successful grow) I transplanted the Monster plant into a larger pot last week.

They are under dual T8 florescent PLANT/AQUARIUM bulbs 24/7 Also, when should I switch to 12/12?

Now, the 3 seeds were all from different random strains, so I am aware that they will grow at different rates, but Im thinking these differences are pretty extreme considering that it has only been 4 weeks. btw, i am using only tap water, no nutrients...i know thats probably a no-no, but it worked out just fine on my last harvest. Im always willing to accept advice though :D

Here are a few pics to show what Im talking about. The blu-ray case was added for scale :D

AFTER 1 WEEK

Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks :D

This was the result of my last attempt:

I also forgot to add that the bottles have holes poked in the bottom for drainage. Should I add the Epsom salts to all 3?

Mineral deficiencies are common in store bought soil. You appear to have up to three deficiencies. Magnesium (curled leaves), Iron (yellowing) and Manganese(yellowing). 1/4 tsp. epsom salt in a gallon of water should fix the first. Don't over do this, or you lock up other nutrients.
The other two are often a result of pH being too high. Lower it to about 6.5, and add a supplement with chelated iron(Iron EDTA on your fertilizer label)and chelated Manganese(Mn on the label).
Tap water can be too hard for our plants. Total dissolved solids(TDS) needs to be lower than 200 ppm. pH after adding nutes, should be 5.9-6.5.
Do you leaf feed with foliar spray? Sometimes they can magnify the light causing burning that could be confused with mineral deficiencies, but since you appear to have a magnesium imbalance, I'd say you probably have a soil that needs additional minerals. You also appear to have a light deficiency. I saw a CFL. They need to be fairly close to the plants. Might consider a HID system, but people can do well with CFL, if you have enough, and they are in close proximity. Good luck.

I Don't leaf feed at all. The CFL was in there because the big daddy had a drooping issue after transplant. Im using the dual 18" T8 Florescent bulbs.. What is the best way to alter the THC lvl of my water?

TDS indicate water hardness. I am sure there are water softeners available. Some filters use salt pellets, etc. I don't trust those types of fixes, due to unintended compounds in my smoke. Reverse osmosis water units are somewhat expensive.
Maybe you can buy bottled water, or aquarium stores often sell reverse osmosis water for a buck a gallon.
Check your faucets and shower heads. Lime and calcium buildups are often a sign that your water is too hard. If not, I'd say you need to proceed as if the mineral deficiency is the problem. You can always buy some water to help, is they do not respond. I hope that helps.

Lol. i just noticed I put "THC Level" instead of pH. I dont have hard water, Ive lived somewhere before that had that....totally sucked. I just ran a pH test on my tap water, and its right around 6.5-6.8

EDIT: I guess Ill try using bottled water for a week or so and see if that has any effect, would that work?

Like I thought, a mineral thing. Best of Luck, and may all your nugs.... be dank.:eyesmoke:

I just did a feeding session with a dash of epsom salts in the mix.....will keep posted over the next few days :D

Well, here we are....just over 8 weeks from seed and a little over 3 weeks since my last photo update... and here is the HUGE lone survivor of the original three seedlings... not too shabby if i do say so myself. :D
