30 Years of Hybrid Strain Evolution

The most dominant evolutionary trends are gonna be the ones that best ensure survival. Humans select for potency and flavor, but at the same time look at all the weak stemmed cal-mag whores in modern cannabis strains.
I think in nature potency and flavor would take a back seat without human intervention.

Assuming the focus on potency and flavor will remain, what trends will emerge over the next 10 years...30 day flowering, 10lbs indoor plant yields, 50% THC, plants that thrive in low light....and how will legalization impact evolution (selective breeding:roll:)? Indoor domestication had a dramatic impact...perhaps legalization will have a similar sized impact.

I think the big thing medically will be isolating specific cannabanoids and breeding out everything else not desired. I have already heard of strains with the THC being almost non existant but CBD being very high. just my 2 cents

trickster & jim...My observation is that there is a collective interest here, on RIU, revolving around the "medicating properties" of the plant. I can not think of another plant so valued for just its trichome production. This amazing plant has much more to offer (not just rope, dope & fabric) by way of industrial (commercial) and environmental application...I believe technology and cannabis chemistry are stepping stones not stumbling blocks for mankind...Governments that impose "moral" legislation on those they "govern" impede social and intellectual evolution...IMHO...FWIW
