Beautiful setup, I'm going to start veggin some babies under cfl and see how it goes, might try my first full grow with cfl's was going to flower under HPS, but your grow is a inpiration to stay cfl all the way !!
Excellent work. Enjoy the spoils..... What is the highest watt CFL you are using? I recently added two 42w cfl's to my cab and I had to move them further away from the plants than I would with 23w or 26w bulbs because they were gonna burn the shit out of my girls. It seems to me the 42's burn much hotter than the smaller watt cfls. Thoughts?Well, I use CFL's because They are safer for my particular setup. They work great for me. My last harvest was 4 oz of cured bud off of one plant grown fully from CFL's Use the general rule of thumb . Lumens per sq ft. Keep in mind CFL's do not penetrate well so only the top 14 - 20 inches gets good bud. At this moment I have 4 5 foot sativas with 900 actual wattage on the canopy and 100 watts from each side (for under canopy) 3000 watt equiv.
They vegged wayyyy too long, I ran into a spider mite prob at an early age and did not want to flower until i eradicated. So I have monsters now.
THey are fighting eachother for space in a 3 foot by 4 foot area in 5 gal buckets of soil. Things I have Learned. Grow more plants smaller!
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS PH your water!
Never NEVER get greedy with NUTES!
Bringing in another plant is like unprotected sex, you want spider mites? Dip it in some insecticidal soap and monitor it for a few days first!
WATER IS LIFE BLOOD proper water is a must
I will soon post pics of my budding fems
I guess a minimum of 2oz per plant
a maximum of 4 oz per plant
one more thing
to get maximum size buds you need to keep the lights half an inch from the leaves, pain in the ass when your girls grow 2 to 3 inches a day. now the buds double in size every night i swear.
So for anyone that says cfl's produce popcorn buds, I disagree. The grower creates popcorn buds. I see baseball bat like colas. Give me a few days to get batteries for cam. These pics are from my last harvest.
This is just not true. Many growers use a 6500k spectrum light for flower, they are called metal halide. You can use the "blue" lights without a problem. Yes your yeild will go down, but your plants will actually produce more resin.if you use the veg cfl's it will come out crap. you must use 3000 kelvin or flowering cfls. veg cfls are rated at 6500 kelvin. see the plant uses more red in flower and blue in veg, if you give it only blue with very little red in flower then buds will be crappy. fyi. so go out and buy some warm white (street name) or 3000 kelvin as they focus on the red spectrum like 20 times more than the other spectrums (like blue green etc. are only a fraction of the light in warm white lights).
