I don't want to be the negative Nelly here, no, its not done properly, but it will work and the chance of fire is pretty low even though its not up to code. More than anything, this thread is a great example of how people:
A. just launch into something without doing there own homework.
B. Post in a thread giving advice when the really don't know the best answer
C. Want to do it the "right" way then say fuck all and just go with what they have.
Well I think its pretty good now

This morning I removed the double 50a from the main box, and went and bought a double 60a and then I bought (3) double 20a for the sub panel

so each light now has its own double 20a dedicated..

My main box is a 125a box, if that info helps..

but i think it is all pretty safe now..

Awesome Job M8

I think you will enjoy the fact that it is done correctly and nothing is out of balance.

You are to be commended on your follow through + rep

Peace

I am glad that you rewired it properly, I would hate to see something bad happen to a fellow RIU'er. I still think it's funny that the electrician said he didn't know what he was doing for a minute. Brain fart !!! ;) I'm sure you will be able to sleep well now knowing that it is now a safe set up.
