3000w Multi Strain Medical Grow!! Soil ScroG, Waterfarms, DWC

Alright so I went ahead and LST'd my Tahoe ladies. They've been impressing the hell out of me and I love getting to start training so early. Also, my first ever ROOT PORN!!

Platinum OG (left solo cup), Purple Kush (back solo), and Tahoe OG (square pot) mothers-to-be. I don't even plan to do anything with Purple Kush again, but I could use all the backup plant material I can get in case cloning/germination don't produce as much as anticipated.

@sharpshoota: Tahoe's are really enjoying it. I'll grab some pics tomorrow when I get a chance. The solo cups are within 1" of 2x26w cfl's which are next to my fluoro tubes that are keeping my 3ft Platinum mother happy and not stretching. I thought the same thing, but my hps didn't change anything either.

Alright, day 15 and the runt Tahoe is finally starting to get going, the rest have already grown 5x their size from when I got them. I originally had a couple days of pretty severe pH swings from (I think) not conditioning my hydroton well enough. A lot of the leaves are still showing their unhappiness about that, and I think I'm going to drop my ppm back to 400 from 500 when I change my rez tomorrow. That should fix the claw some of them have. Input and advice is more than welcomed on this. I'll try and get some pics of le scroggy scrog when the lights come on.

Only 2 have more than a small single root poking out the bottom, and this is what they've become in about a week




And a quick shot of my veg tent, slowly building itself. I'll be germing 5 Vanilla Kush seeds in a few days, they'll be sharing the scrog with my platinum og next run.

love your set up.. the more i see and think about it the more i want one just like yours one day. Im loving the simplicity of the waterfarm.
What are your thoughts on the larger waterfarm units with 2 drip rings? I keep thinking the waterfarm i have, the rez is too small. If i did bump it up to a larger size would i just be growing a larger plant with larger roots and coming up with the same thick brick roots in the rez.? with the same water circulation issues?

I think those would be awesome, but have no experience with them myself. Adding an airstone would make a pretty big difference for you though, I'd try that before any other upgarde. As soon as my roots hit the aerated water, they started growing noticeably faster. It's an even bigger difference between my best plant and worst plant now because of that. If that doesn't help then that Megafarm definitely will. 20 gallons grow chamber, 20 gallon res!! If you have problems with too thick of a root mass in that thing, you have a problem I'd be extremely jealous of. I prefer multiple smaller plants though, saves on veg time. The powergrower is another option that's not quite as extreme (or expensive), 5.7gal and it's only $65 instead of $2xx

mikey, do you think i could fit 2 waterfarms in my tent now? i still have a lot of frame space that didnt get used up.
i agree with the veg time issue, shit dude, this one has already been on for 4 fuckin months...I did have some problems in the beginning, but this is getting ridiculous! lol
i would also concider a 12/12 from seed route. I think a few waterfarmers are attempting that right now. Have you ever tried that approach?

Yeah, if you have plants next to each other in a square screen just train the top down in one direction to make an oblong plant. That's what I do in my scrog so they lay out longer rather than perfectly round. I've never done 12/12 from seed but have seriously thought about it after seeing some of the results on these forums. For now I'm gonna stick with what I have/know and just work on improving that. 12/12 from seed seems like it would get even more complicated once training comes into play. I just don't know how much side branching you could induce from a plant that doesn't have very much time to do it.

do you think that having such a small resovoir with such a large plant slows down the growth and draws out the plants life cycle? thanks for getting back to me about having 2 waterfarms in my space. Im going to do that next time.

Finally got around to taking some pictures, I know I promised more updates but real life is a mothafucka sometimes.

Day 12 Flower: Pistil clusters are forming, stretch is mild so far, I tucked everything over 3" above the screen on day 7, haven't touched them since. The canopy is mostly even around 4-5" above the screen. They're packed in there!!! Note to self: more fans asap!!

I have a question before pictures though: I gave full strength veg nutes 2-3 days before flower, 50/50 grow/bloom at half strength 2 days into flower, 100% bloom at 2/3 strength day 9 flower. The leaves of my Platinum OG and Purple Kush have a very slight claw, assumedly from N toxicity. It's been showing steady improvement over the last few days, so it's no longer really a problem. But I'm also battling some yellowing undergrowth. My best guess is Potassium..
My water is pH'd at 7, runoff is 5.9-6.2. (I'm still battling with this fucking FFOF acidity) But I seriously doubt my ph is low enough to cause lockout of the base nutrients, right? So is this a deficiency or just the plants focusing energy up top and letting the undergrowth die off?Any ideas??

ps. Asking about yellow leaves and having pics with lights on I know....

You can see some of the yellowing I was talking about in this one. This is why I wouldn't think it's the plant letting it go as it's still in the light.





Day 22 Veg: pH - 5.7, ppm - 450, and rising ~40/day?? Tap is 250, 200ppm of nutes seems fairly low for the plants to still be drinking more water than nutes...But they're happy and that's what matters! I add enough water to keep it where they like it. I just started brewing my first ever batch of Heisenberg's tea, it will be ready Saturday. No problems, just a preventative.

I think your ppms are too low. I THINK THEY NEED MORE FOOD. THEY LOOK HUNGRY, VERY LOVELY BUT THEY LOOK REALLY HUNGRY FOR SOME NITRO. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD FEED SOME NITRO TO GET THEM A RICHER GREEN LOOKING. awesome update.
