3000w Vertical Setup

Went in the room at 7:30 sharp and humidity was at 67% on one device, 82% on the other. Temp was at 75. I will run a dehumidifier at night to keep humidity in the 40-50% range.

I fed the plants a mixture of tap water (175ppm) and FloraNova Bloom (850ppm total/6.4 PH). Feeding went well. Most plants got 1/2 a gallon. I let the liner fill with runoff, and empty them after a while. I noticed the roots were already growing past the drain holes and into the liner!

Got the other ballast going, so now there's 3000w.

Could we see a pic of the ballast wiring? Im guessing all hard wired? Why 240v (im guessing again because you had it avail?)? I love the vert setup i think thats a great way to use large lighting sources! Plus rep for monster setup!

Today I went in the room halfway into the dark cycle and temp was at 74 and humidity was at 52%. Seems like the dehumidifier is much needed at this stage, specially after yesterday's feeding. I went in again about 1.5 hours before lights on and foliar fed the plants a mix of Diamond Nectar, Nitrozime and a wetting agent (345ppm/6.14 PH).

[FONT=&quot]I went in the room this morning a couple of minutes before lights went down and temp was at 76 and humidity 48%.

I have a timer box hardwired to a subpanel. The timer box has 8 x 240v outlets (40 amps) and 2 x 120v outlets (10 amps). The ballasts are multi tap kits, so I wired them myself.

as a general contractor (mostly hardscaping ponds and outdoor )i can tell a good electrician when i see one this is a great example of the right way to get loads of power and still be safe! I see some scary closets in here , but i guess the building inspector doesnt have to see these rooms. Haha. Is that just a standard 240 timer box? Like a breaker box with the timer wheels inside?? Do they make a 120v timer setup like that? Sorry for so many ?'s but i can tell you know what you are doing!

I transplanted the clones to some 6” pots. They are a sad looking bunch, but will become strong and green in no time, you’ll see. I used tap water (175ppm) and a splash of FloraNova Veg to wet the soil (300ppm total/6.45 PH).

Clones are on a 24/0 light cycle under a 400w MH. Room temperature is 73-77 and humidity is 48%.
how close are those lights to the clones,i herd that clones like some light but not a lot of light, unless you get good results?

The box uses a digital timer, which controls the power supply to the receptacles. This is the one I have. I modified the box to be able to hardwire it to the subpanel, but it's made to be plugged to a drier receptacle. I'm sure you could find a similar timer box with 120v outlets exclusively.

Thanks for the kind words... and keep the questions coming!

Oh! I WANT ONE of those!!!!

Are you an electrician?

Fucking righteous!!! + REP

How many dollars in parts approx???

Where do you feed that thing from?

Would a system designed for a dryer handle that? I'll check my breaker's amperage rating and get back to you...

Hummm... hang the box... plug it in to the unused dryer outlet...

And I won't be running that much at all... total 1000 watt max...

Sorry for hijacking like this, but I really need to up the safety around this here old house...

Thanks ...

Merry Ho Ho Ho!!!

I just play it by ear, if you know what I mean. I noticed a leaf or two curling, so I raised it a little, and kept raising it as the plants got bigger. I'm always trying to read the plants and act accordingly. But to answer your question, about 30-35 inches the first few days.

No, I'm not an electrician, just read a couple of books. I've learned so much shit since I started growing... and electricity is among them.

I've spent too much money on parts, my friend. I have thousands of dollars worth of stuff just laying around. Light mover, brand new AC's, reflectors that are now useless with my vertical setup. I'm happy I can finally use my dehumidifier again! Had been laying around for months.

1000w at 240 is just 4.15amps. Dryers usually have a 30 or 50 amp circuit, so yeah it's more than enough.

Richard Pryor!!! You've kept us waiting for a while now... but it was well worth the wait. Your setup is tight... safe (electricity is our friend ;) ), clean and bright white. I look forward to watching you grow. :joint::hump::peace:

Thanks msd. As you know, it's my first time trying vertical, and so far it is the cleanest setup I've had. I'm lucky to have such a big space, so I can go around the back and water the plants, turn them, etc. I did a lot of reading on verticals before I designed my room, so I took into consideration every complaint growers had about their setup.

Thanks for stopping by! :joint:

Flower Room

Plants are looking very good today. Room’s temp/humidity are now stable during lights off with the help of the dehumidifier (71
°/48%). Container had filled with water in the 12 hours the thing was on.

One of the lamps was making a weird noise, and when I checked it I saw a crack, so the room will use just 2000w today. I’ll get a replacement bulb first thing tomorrow. Thinking about getting an additional ballast as well. Room would be perfect with one more 1000w HPS.

I also made the setup tighter and moved the plants closer to the lights. Now the first row is 16 inches away from the lights and the top row is 23 inches away. I have an oscillating fan pointing towards the lights and together with the A/C it really makes this possible.

Maximum room temperature during lights on is 78
° at the moment, but I will tinker with that as soon as I start using Co2 to get it to the 81° range. If I get the fourth ballast, it might get that hot without any modifications.

I gave all the plants half a turn and raked the top soil with my hand. I also harvested 3 plants from the last batch. All in all, I spent 7 hours working on the room.

Veg Room

The veg room is kind of neglected at the moment. Temps now reach a high of 85
° because the AC has been sealed inside the flower room. Humidity levels are not stable either. I’m not worried about the MF mothers or the White Berry & BigBud plants, because they can handle the temperature, but I’m afraid I’m gonna need a separate area for the clones. I’ll give it some thought tomorrow and see what I come up with.

Nevertheless, the BigBud and White Berry are looking great. You be the judge!
