300w Cfl

Normally in the past I'd use small cfl's to root my clones , or 3-4ft striplights.
This time I bought the OMEGA 300W Cfl ,, What's the ideal height to hang the bulb at?
right now its approximately 2ft away and yeah i could get I closer but I don't think its needed.
Any closer and it slows growth dwn to about 1inch per week. At this height its about 2-3inch per week.

I'm 30days into veg and she's only 12-14 inches.
The growth is nice tho and everything is fine n well. I'm just curious as to what height YOU would hang light at.

As close as possible without burning my plant.

The closest I've gotten without burning mine, is one inch. But I keep my light 3 inches away so that they can grow into it.

are you using a 300w CFL?

i was the same with strip lights and very small cfls but cant do that with the 300w ,, minimum would be 10-12" at best and even then it stunts growth. Slows it right down which i dnt want.

I am using three 150w (2700k) and three 125w (6400k) CFL's
Anything closer than 2 inches, you might burn you plants. Anything further than 6 inches away is not enough light for your plant.

Then you should bought the lower watt bulbs,they don't get as hot.In my experience the higher watt cfls run hotter than the lower watt ones.Even with that 300 watter,like @mean.green said as close as possible without burning the leaves or without causing any negative effects.GL

Oh yeah your plant looks good...just keep doing what your doing!Your just gonna have to find the sweetspot(height) for you particular grow.

It sounds like you already have your answer but imo I'd move the light closer like 4-6 inches away if you can, but then again I don't like my plants to be that tall more bushy so shorter is better in my book

Yeah I tried to keep it closer but the leaves went taco the closer I got it with the edges ever so slightly turning over which is a sign that it was too bright for the plant so I raised it a little and soon after the leaves were nice n flat again. Its also caused by low humidity which I'm experiencing right now but it should level its self out once i rig up the cooltube next week.

with the hps on it goes right dwn to 17% but with the cfl ot staying in the mid to high 30's,,, still not perfect but I will get there eventually, even if I need to add wet towels on a daily basis I will.
