For $199 they're giving you under $50-60 worth of light. You'll get a whole 17000 lumens out of that 300 plus watts of cfl's, but in reality that's what a 150w hps gives for way less money.
Just buy a 150w hps. It'll grow better, be cheaper, and cooler.

how is an hps cooler then cfls?...an hps gives off way more heat then those bulbs

Because CFl's are not heat free. They operate on a lower level of efficiency than a 150w hps does and in the world of electronics the watts that don't go to light go to heat by default. The heat is spread out more because there are more heat sources at a lower level with each cfl, but cram those cfl's in a sealed box for an hour and record the temp and then stick a remote ballasted 150w hps in the same space for an hour and record that.

Both will be close, but the hps will actually be lower. Those cfl's will all start to cook eachother with no ventilation and their operating temp will skyrocket.

Bottom line, either way you will need to vent and you will need fans and either way will create heat so it frankly doesn't matter which type of light you choose. I only suggest hps because for the money... Duh...

BULL SHIT! I have over 400W of CFL's runnin in a space that a 400W needed 3 fans in to keep in the HIGH 80's! Now I have 1 fan to keep it in the mid 70's!

I was talking about a 150w hps vs that light thing he was looking at, both of which produce the same lunmens but the HPS does it with much less wattage.

I was not talking about your 400 vs 400w of cfl, those are not comparable either way you'd have to compare however many 800-1000w or more of cfl's would be needed to get the same lumens as that 400 HPS in the same space and then get back to us.

If you're going to compare lights, compare lights that grow the same not just the same wattage.

Ok, well lets see w/the heat I deal with (almost non-existent), I produce about 32K Lumens of light. A 150W HPS produces between 13K-15K. So, Hmmmm. Anything else there, BUDDY?

ok so what fan are you using now? And what fans did you use before. Your probably going to say inline fan, but an inline fan will also cool a 400w HPS with no problems. Im assuming you had 3 pc fans for your 400wHPS. You cant compare anything.

you cant add up lumens BTW.. 5 1000 lumen lights doesnt make 5000 lumens like 1 5k lumen light does.At least thats how I have always heard it.
