Of course we should. The idea that giving college to Americans tuition free (and forgiving student loans while we're at it) is a 'giveaway' simply ignores the fact that other nations gain a competitive advantage when their citizens are able to do it and Americans can't.

It's classist and anticompetitive, pure and simple. The only 'benefit' gained is lower taxes on the rich- and that's not something that really benefits anyone but then. The cost is too high and in fact even costs that same wealthy class in terms of not having the skilled workforce their companies need to be competitive in the modern world!

'If you think education is expensive, you should see the cost of ignorance'.
thats because here in america everyone has to 'step on it' for their cut..it's not america unless you get your cut.

America was never quite as nationalist and classist as we are right now- although it was close in the 1920s.

Anyone remember how THAT turned out? No, because pretty much everyone who lived through it has died. Maybe we should look at what they wrote- it's this thing called 'history' for those who may be unfamiliar with the concept- and think carefully about what they said and did when faced with the same situation we are today.

My own grandparents would tell us they were staunch 'New Deal' Democrats, in the vein of FDR's vision for America... which is all but completely different than the vision our current miserable excuse for a Democratic Party would have us vote for.

It spiked for a couple days, as has now dropped back to the 30's. Disapproval is still in the 60's.

Barry O's approval rating was just under 60% at the same point in his first term. Disapproval in the mid 20's.

Pretty stark contrast, eh?
obama was more popular no doubt.
