I've recently decided to try the sog method and I was wondering from personal expierence could I fit 35 plants under a 400 watt hps? I've read that people use 1000 watt lights and fit 80 plants under it so i figured 400 could fit 35. Any input would be much appreciated if not 35 could you please let me know how many could fit. Thanks in advance everybody

you can use 5.5 or 6" pots and fit the 36 plants in a 3x3 flood table.

a 600w would be ideal, but yes, you can get away with using a 400w. Don't veg for too long, because a 400w can't penetrate very deep.
Consider lollipopping

Personally I wouldn't veg at all.. and consider lollipoping...
The horizontal growth would be something to deal with and would create unnecessary stretch in the plants... keep those puppies short and fat!

I was wondering the same. Sick ass setup Clown Baby. How's that working out for you with the vert light? Obviously, that setup wouldn't work with any light using a hood, but are they getting enough light from that? Side Question: Lollipopping is?

Lollipop is removing all side branches so the plant only grows single main cola.

Vertical growing looks like the way to go for yield. My next project will be vertical

I've seen Del6666 thread on 12/12 from seed his plants grow to one bud so i figured i would aim to do that. My tent is 4x4 and i want max out my tent I don't want to have any wasted grow space. Thanks guys I just didn't want to get myself.into something I couldnt handle.

1 plant per square foot will allow plenty of room for each plant to grow a large top cola, but will not allow for much bottom branching.
