I've grown twice before and neither were as good as they could've been. My first grow was like a lot of newbies', i tried to be cheap with everything and lacked every ounce of knowledge i needed to grow. 2 oz off three plants, but gained so knowledge and experience. Last year, I decided to start them inside under CFLs in late January. By May i put out an already three foot plant. I also had five clones of the same plant, but only one survived animals digging up the nutrients i had in the soil. Then four wheeler tracks showed up at my spot so we had to make an emergency harvest. Two 7ft plants harvested about 3 and a half oz. This year, three will be the charm.
I will have two threads so i can ask questions, this one and one in the outdoor forum when they go outside. If you want to follow the whole thing I have a post in the Grow Journal forum.
So right i got 3 Swiss Cheese and 2 Master Kush plants going, plus one seed i found and decided to plant. At the moment I have them under 4 26 watt 6500k and 1 23 watt 2700k CFLs in seed starter soil, no nutrients yet. I have one fan in the closet 24/7 and one fan that i use for exhaust during the day. I think I have a pretty good set up.
The first two pictures just an overview of my setup.
.
The next two are the plants. The order is: top row- SC2,MK2,SC1 and bottom row- SC3,MK1.
Then are the plants themselves:
Master Kush #1- 03/06/11
Master Kush #2- 03/06/11
Swiss Cheese #1- 03/06/11
Swiss Cheese #2- 03/06/11
Swiss Cheese #3- 03/06/11, i think this plant is a dud, it sprouted but is growing incredibly slow.
Random heady seed planted a couple of days after the rest.
Thermometer showing average temps. The top temp is the temperature where the thermometer is, bottom temp is the wire at the canopy that you can see in the plant pictures.
This is my light timer set for 16 hrs of light, gonna go to 15 when vegging starts so that the plants will be used to the potentially still short days when i put them outside in early-may, 3 months before flowering season. 5 lights are all plugged in through this timer.
This is the outlet of the electric cord coming out of the light timer(pic1). Two lights are plugged in. The white cord is another 3-way extension. This cord has the other three lights plugged in(pic2). DO you think it looks unsafe? I mean having two extension cords plugged in through one timer seems iffy, but really.. 100 some whats is less than most appliances so it shouldn't matter right?
.
These pics are the full setup again but with the exhaust fan in place. The second pic is how it is during most of the day, with the doors being closed so the air going into the fan is from the grow room and the air is going out into the rest of my room.
.
When I transplant out of the Solo cups, i will be putting it into a mixture of peat moss, perlite and worm castings. The worm casting bag says 1-0-0 which might not be enough but ive always heard castings are wonderful for your plant so im trusting itll be enough. Should this be good? I have fox farm grow big to use every couple of waterings to supplement other nutrients and all, plus bat guano to put in the mix when they go outside, so i've been figuring these worm castings will be good.
