Plants look good welsh!
Well today I was doing some serious thinking...
With these extra black ice clones that im not going to flower, I am debating on using them to experiment with organics.
I went to multiple places today to look around and see what was available..
I stopped at a nursery, home depot, lowes...
Along with reading alot of stuff this is what I am thinking about doing
Getting a potting mix or compost or both? (I have been having trouble at deciding what to use as humus
)
I went down to the nursery and talked with the worker for a good hour. (told her I was growing tomatoes)
She recommended that I used 2 bags of compost per one bag of azalea mix when growing outdoors...
Problem is, is that she gave that recommendation with the thought that i was mixing it with already existing dirt.
Which I am not... So im thinking of mixing one bag(3cubic ft) of potting mix per 2 bags of compost mix...
But I have no fucking idea...
I was thinking of picking up kellogs compost or E.B. Stone compost...
I dont know though, cause I have a weird paranoia for commercial products...
And I still dont know what potting mix to mix with it...
Anyways, what I do know is this:
I am going to get earth worm castings, coarse perlite, and sphagum peat moss for sure(If the humus doesn't have it already)
I am also getting kellogg organic tomato food with microbes(4-6-3), kelp meal(1-0-1), and alfalfa meal(2-0-3)(actually just going to use alfalfa from a feed store and grind it up).
Ill be adding a little bit of lime as well. Maybe some rock dust as ive read some good things about it...
There is an earth worm casting farm nearby which is nice too...
This is the ratio that I think im going to try...(to make 1 cubic foot;7.5 gallons)
1 part=5 gallons cause im using a 5 gallon bucket
1/2(2.5gal) part peat moss
1/2(2.5gal) part humus which is going to be about 3/5 compost/potting mix and 2/5 EWC
1/2(2.5gal) part perlite
3/4(1.5-2.5 tbs per gallon) cup lime
1(2-3 tbs per gallon) cup kelp meal
1.5(3 tbs per gallon) cups kellogg tomato food
1 tbs per gallon black strap molasses...
This recipe should last me through most of the life cycle but if not I plan on making tea's with kelp meal, EWC, and alfalfa meal...
While top dressing with kellogg tomato food and EWC as well...
I could be completely wrong by using this combination and if I am I hope someone speaks up...
Also, if you have any recommendations for a quality humus/compost mix recipe it would be greatly appreciated...
Im fairly new to organics...
Going to do some research on brewing teas tonight/tomorrow...
Trying to figure out a good water to meal/EWC ratio for teas.
Hope everyones having a good night!
