4 bagseed, 4 females.

Well I decided to finally share my project. First grow. Just started flowering after 6 weeks of vegging. Big plans for my 4 x 2 x 4 closet grow over the next year. Just had to share my frustration with murphy and his damn law. I swear he stalks me in my sleep. Began with bagseed to experiment and get my grow room situated and working before wasting my money and ruining my attitude seed collection. Was hoping for a male out of the 4 that sprouted for breeding with my attitude freebies later but murphy had plans for me to have 4 females. Not a bad thing, already came up with a solution for next grow so I have my pollen. The gf will be happy with the extra christmas bud anyways. Been flowering for a couple days and 8-10 weeks will bring me to the week before christmas .

About the grow room:
Happy Frog Soil
150W HPS + (2)68W 2700k CFL's
5 Gallon pots
Jacks classic and Bloom Booster for nutes (10-20-10 & 15-30-15)

Started off rough without the grow room set up but man these plants are troopers. Had one bad clumsy day where everything I touched turned to shit. Had the babies up on a shelf and 3/4 fell on the floor :X. They were just seedlings then. The largest plant's stem got bent in half and the other 2 fell completely out of the cup soil and all. One I said fuck it and put it aside because it was buried in soil after I scooped it back into the cup. My gf says the next day, you mind as well try to get it to grow still so I gave it a shot and now I have all 4 as strong healthy females. Funny how shit works out. Still cant believe they're alive with all the stress. Ill put some pics up when I get back from work later. 100% DIY grow. Make shifted until I decided to get serious about things and the gf was more optimistic after she saw progress.

Some pics from a couple weeks ago. Now in a grow box and 5 gallon containers.

Question for some veterans, for my next grow im thinking of maximizing space and getting some underbed containers that are 10gallons each and putting 2 side by side to take advantage of the vertical space that the huge 5 gallon containers take up. Not to mention I plan to do 4 bagseeds in one 10 gallon and 2 in the other with sweetseeds big devil & fast bud. Ill veg the bagseed for like 8-9 weeks until the autos harvest and then if I get any females ill transplant to the other tub and hopefully get a male to breed with. Back on topic lol, from my understanding the roots will grow whereever they can squeeze into so I shouldnt have any issues when/if I use them my next grow right? Sound pretty do-able? Just not sure if its okay to keep autos on 18/6 their whole life

Hey, they look nice and healty! But, really not trying to be a dick but the hermie odds seemed to be stacked against your plants. if you got 4 fem out of 4 bag seed I'd watch out for a hermie! only a few options on how those seeds got there 1. the plant they were in hermied causing seeds (hermie geness) 2. a plant next to it hermied (usually fem but still has hermie genes and is more likely to hermie). 3 pollen blew in from somewhere else and you have unknown genes. (could be a male plant some where but not that likely, more than likely it was from a hermie).

they look pretty nice but like the guy above said, they are most likely hermies or atleast one. It doesn't really matter if they are or not. It will just pollinate itself if you dont keep track of the male bananas. If you do happen to see them just take them off. It will keep the plants from polinating itself but if you want more plants to practice with than just let it pollinate itself.

Thanks for the input. I really hope i dont see banannas lol. I am fairly certain though that they're from an outdoor plant one year that most likely just collected pollen from a male somewhere. I did smoke the bud amd it def seemed like outdoor bud. I dont usually have seeds from indoor grows. Then again thats partly the reason im growing myself so that I know exactly where my ladies have been

Questionn, can you make feminized seeds with a hermy or does it just breed more hermies? I would think having just female/female genes would make feminized seeds. Open for input on this

Yes, they will. There is an old myth that states, "Hermaphrodite mothers will produce seeds prone to self-pollination". That's not true. I hermied a plant intentionally and grew 20 beans to find out. 85% were female with zero hermaphroditic tendencies and the other 15% straight-up male.

Man, I have grown out "bag seeds" from some just ok schwag before in my 4'X2'X8' closet I still use, and have gotten sum amazingly awesome smoke outta that. Mj possesses certain latent, inherant genetics, that most of the time will come out if you give it optimal conditions and nutrients. I do advise using good genetics, or at least getting clones from other growers if you are that lucky, but I totally encourage people, especially beginners to experiment with "schwag" seeds and treat them well, and 9 times outta 10, if you sex them and leave your females, you will be amazed at what will pop up, that was most definately not present in whatever cheap bag the seeds came from. I would grow that hermie far away from my females, tho. Those seeds from the hermie will give you a huge female seed stock, but as already mentioned, you haveta stay on top of identifying those preflowers, on every single bracch, at every single node. I use a 400W MH and three 250W HPS in my closet that is about the same size as yours, only taller from the dimensions you gave, and I cut in a supply vent from my ac system, and have a room circulator, box fan, and an oscillating fan all positioned perfectly to provide optimal ventilation, and use good reflectors, so the extreme amount of light and would-be heat isn't a factor for my plants. Negative on the clones, I already went over my budget for this grow so im hoping for a sucessful harvest to break even and reinvest in my room. Eventually i'll get some stuff to clone my nebula, wappa, and purple haze (gotta love attitude specials).

Im crossing my fingers that all goes well.

Its not too late to tie down a plant right? The largest is starting to shoot up within the last few days and I think it'll need something to help control it soon. Was too nervous to top/lst from all the stress they had while they were seedlings. I was looking into supercropping and saw that it isn't too dangerous to do just after flowering. Hm decisions decisions

Well, suppose time it's time for an update. 3 of the four grew nuts, let them grow n harvested as much nuts as i could. Think i could have waited longer to chop but wanted to make sure the girl keeps her virginity. Lesson learned : ) lil patience goes a long way.

I tied her down cause she was growing pretty fast.

Shes filling in pretty nice. Seems very dense. Smelled it three days ago and could smell strong skunk up close. Not really smelling at all when I checked it today. Seems much bigger than only a few days ago.

So I had to leave for 8 days, gave the girl a good watering before leaving. Came back and she was reallyyy dry. Very droopy. Watered her asap and within 5 hours she looked much better again. Very crystal-like. The house was pretty chilly, warmed it up quite a bit from where it was and left the box open for like an hour while I went to do errands and came back and theres a crazy cat piss smell. My girl n I were kinda like what the f is that at first and then were like, def cat piss. Not sure how close she is to finishing. Gonna see how she is after another week. Tried looking at trics with my 30/60x and its kinda hard to look at each buds trics to see the clear/cloudy/amber%. I think it seems like theres a lot of cloudy trics but not 100% sure if they're cloudly or clear. Pretty happy shes not dead Main cola is pretty hardy. Filled in quite a bit more than before too. Well to end this thread, harvested at 9 1/2 weeks into flower. Very pleased with the smoke. Smooth, head clearing, clears sinuses and opens airways. Smells like mild/medium skunk with sweet aromas laced in between that make your lips pucker. Ended up with 3 ounces dry. Now its on to the next one on on to the next one.
