4 cobs for the corners of a 1000w

Anyone try doing this? Run 49w on each corner to bring ppfd up? Or maybe if you can angle them on the sides for deeper penetration? I can't afford to switch my entire setup but figure this is good start. Any real results with a setup like this out there?

Haven't seen it done. Would be damn nice tho. What are the room dimensions?

Seems like adding 200 watts to a 1k is counter productive. Don't really need more than a 1k for the footprint they cover and the best part about cobs is using less energy in your space to pull the same amount or the same amount of electricity to pull more. Seems like a waste to me to increase your footprint 6" on the corners.

I have a 9x12 area that I have 4 lights over only about 9x10 of it which I would spread out once I implement the cobs ...and then a 4x5 with another light. Other room is 10x13 with 6 lights.

Lol, I was going to make a joke about how anything less than 600W from a single point source is counter-intuitive, then found out that someone actually gave that advice for real!

Depends on your coverage area, a 5x5 or bigger could use some extra side light.
The footprint for a typical single hps despite reflectors is still center weighted.

Also gives you a chance to enhance the spectrum. I would use a couple of 4 foot long skinny bars with smaller les cobs like cxb3070s, citizen 1212s, or vero 18s and angle them at 45 degrees. along the edges.

Is it just me or did fluence go backwards from where bml was at. I've seen a few different videos of them in flower and they look pathetic almost all larf popcorn buds. All of the videos show what looks to be smd strip lighting. With what Cree and others are producing you would think they would have gone another route

I think its just you, but I don't have one. don't knock smd chips. the best newer ones are pulling some great efficiency numbers.

Could you show us what videos you are talking about ?

@PurpleBuz dont really know how to link videos. They're on you tube only a few videos show the new spyders. I've been looking into smd lighting for over a year now, getting help on this forum on the subject until recently has been next to impossible.

Plus I don't think a spyder bar around the perimeter of a thousand watt light would do much good. That and what are they charging for one light I can't remember but it's some serious cash witch was already stated bank1 doesn't have. I don't like cob chips but I think they would be a great option in this situation.

@PurpleBuz i wish I had a thousand I was giving my $.02 on the topic. I grow mostly micro with a19 Walmart bulbs. My real passion is helping people with kids that have conditions that cannabis can help with start their first grow in non legal states I'm actually homeless most if not all of the year. So getting a grow up and going is something I really look forward to doing again but doesn't happen much
