You see, the problem I have with this line of thinking, is that it offers no hope of solution. I'd rather concentrate my effort to working within the broken system, trying to make it work better, to me, it seems many of you just want to stand outside and go "it's broken"
I know it's broken. I also know that there are only a couple of ways to change a Government. Slowly, over time, working from within that governments system. Or by taking up arms and removing them by force.
I personally don't think enough Americans are to the point of "taking up arms' for that to work. If the day comes to take up arms..I'll help..but that day is not here...or even close..don't think it will get that bad in my lifetime.
So, I'll choose to fight on a front where progress can be made...and another generation that thinks like me will follow. And with any luck things will improve.
But I'm not going to wast my time planning a overthrow...because well...that time has not come for enough Americans yet.
So, I'll muddle along...trying to make things improve...and you guys can yell.."not enough" , "it's broken"

At this point in History, in the United States, we all have more freedoms and opportunities and better standards of living than at any time before

Well..Don't know what Jack Ruby or Weaver have to do with Michigan Medical marijuana, and I have no idea of what the reference to dogs and soldiers shot defending their homes has to do with Michigan medical marijuana. So that's just useless rambling in this discussion.
But if you are referring to the people that have been arrested and charged with cannabis crimes in Michigan, since the law was enacted, Yes that is the system working. Working pretty well too. In every case you guys like to cite the arrest involves people that were clearly in violation of the new law. They knew it..they flaunted it..and the police arrested them. They chose to go High Profile. They knew the risks. call them martyrs if you will, I'd just call them careless.
In most cases, their trials have proven beneficial in the medical mj rulings. The number of cases you cite is next to nothing. You like to tell every one that these arrests are everyday occurrences, happening to totally innocent people. But that's simply not the case..and you even know it.
Yes, the system is working just fine as far as medical mj in Michigan is concerned.
Don't know if you noticed, but today we had a major victory! We secured our right to transport plants. We are getting more favorable wording for doctor/patient relationship. We secured a better position for utilizing the med law affirmative defense. There is more good news from today too..I'm just so tired from working to secure todays gains..that I can't think of them right now.
What were you doing to help today? Oh, that's right, complaining.

Never took credit for it in the way you suggest. I said the victory secured by my efforts and like minded individuals. I shared credit with all those that actually Influenced all of the positive changes made to the bills today. And a victory was won. Bills are inevitable. It's how laws are shaped after they are implemented.
The bills you failed to vote down, were vastly improved before being passed. That's a win....sorry your group was outside complaining, rather than inside getting something done, like our group.
So you keep screaming don't change my law, and I'll just shape the changes best I can to make them palatable to the majority of Med patients.

Sorry had to tend to my family lastnight. Bob I'm not going to sling mud at you. I can tell that you are involved within the gov. I would like to figure out at what level. I to am a gov employee. I can tell ou trying to change it from the inside gets you laughed at. There is only one way to get our rights back. It's citizens movements. I like to compare this mj movement to the civil rights movement, women's rights, and the end of slavery. Those were not won from within. It has to come from the people. Trust me I understand we are not that bad off that we need a gun fight, which we would never win. The change is going to be slow. We need to be on the same page on a united front at least on this side of the fight. The reason we have barely gotten anywhere is because even though we all agree cannabis reform has happen. We look like spoiled children screaming I want my bottle. Wtf we need to stand together not fight amongst ourselves. If every cannabis supporter would admit it this would be over.

I agree wholeheartedly. Except, I'm not with any group, or the Government. Just a guy that had an executive position in a large retail Company, (Furniture), then became Ill, lost everything i had, and fought back to a comfortable (not rich) lifestyle. My source of income is disability payments, and another 400 a month from a business I sold. I support Myself and 2 older kids on that income.
The difference, is that though I agree with what you said in the most part, I disagree that change comes thru protest. Protest certainly has its place..but change happens when new laws are written...and then those laws are amended, until they work.
In Michigan, though some protesting is still in order, we have reached the point where we have an infant medical law....I'm simply suggesting that the best way to improve it at this point, IS from inside the system.
