4 Plant 600W grow

Yeah I really wasn't interested in being a champion for MG just wanted to show off the plants. Don't care to argue with anyone about MG, it works for me, has for over 30 years. If you don't like it don't use it. I generally stick w/1 tsp/gal total each watering, plus liquid cal-mag. During veg 1 tsp of mg regular, once I switch to flower still 1 tsp but half reg and half orchid mix. A few watering ago I fed a full tablespoon to see if I'd get a little burn and saw no adverse effect at all, but went right back to 1 tsp.

I definitely don't follow conventional wisdom. I'll start feeding seedlings 1/4 strength by 3rd or 4th watering. I plant in a mix of FFOF, and MG Organic w/time release ferts, both of which are too hot for young plants according to many, and they say don't add ANY nutes with these for several weeks, yet I fertilize every watering. According to conventional wisdom I should be burning these plants up with fertilizer. And no I don't flush either.

But they are perfect green, never a deficiency, never a burn. Go figure, I must be doing something wrong. :-P

Someone on RIU said he upped the nutes slowly until he got just a tiny burn than dialed it back a notch. Not sure that isn't a decent approach to the fert issue.

The seed went in the ground last week of Jan so they were right at 7 weeks out of the ground. They seemed to be growing a little slow to me but I was pretty rough on them as I did some topping/fimming and tying over when they were pretty small.

Your planting mix is very similar to mine. For my soil base I use 1/2 FFOF and 1/2 MG organic w/slow release fert. No additional peat moss. Also don't use blood meal. I'm a big fan of dolomite (and cal-mag in waterings). I also add Azomite for micro-nut insurance, you might want to look into that stuff and consider adding it to your mix.

For actual sprouting I use 80% Jiffy organic seed starting mix with about 10% FFOF and 10% MG Organic, and toss in a handful of dolomite.

that's great that you have no insect or blemishes on the leaves outdoors. that should come at a major relief for ya lol

Well they have spent almost all their time in the basement grow room. I have them under a 600w HPS with about 200 W of assorted spectrum cfls thrown in on the edges.

I only take them out on warm days to give them a spray down with the hose and let them get some real sun, and it's only maybe 6 hours at a time. They really like natural sun and as it continues to warm up I'll still drag them out until I get tired of it or they get too big. I keep them on a deck away from other vegetation in hopes of minimizing exposure to bugs. I know there's a chance of bringing critters indoors so I keep a fresh one of these hanging in the grow room, so far no problems.

I like the idea of mixing in a bit of real sunshine as it's hard to beat mother nature.....and yes, it does come with some risk (bugs) but I think it's worth it.

I have 2 "early wonder skunk" in hempy buckets that I move into the sun when available, but it's still early spring and the sun is not strong yet and goes down too early

Thanks Sun King & Zack !

Yeah I am a firm believer of natural sun when you can do it. Plus they really like getting misted down good with the garden hose, or as least I like to think they do.

I've grown outdoors since '79 and as this being my first full indoor grow I'm really happy with it.

Anyone have an opinion on the White Widow? I've seen pics of other WW where the leaves are NOWHERE near as wide as this gal, a definite indica. Some of the older leaflets are almost 2" across! Lots of pics I've seen they are more like a sativa. It is part of an indica mix from Greenhouse seed. Might have kept it topped too hard, before going 12/12 she looked like a head of lettuce.

Thanks Vape. I refuse to get caught up in the MG and nute brand pissing matches. Gets pretty ridiculous at times. I think most of it arises from the fact that a lot of newbies use what is cheap and available as far as soils and nutes, then they fuck up right and left, and blame it on the ingredients, not their poor procedure.

You can rant and rage against Scotts and Monsanto and I will not disagree in the least, they are corporate barons. Corporate assholes. But the products actually work, just fine, if you know what you are doing.

i have a side by side test going right now using BC nutes vs. MiracleGro plant food. I'm growing in unferted coco mix. I will post the results on here once i have finished my test.

Exactly 1 month since I first put up some pics, comparing the pics on the 2 dates I think they've done well!

Well got the plants up for their weekly shower and sunbathing, supposed to hit 75 today. Right at 4 weeks in flower, they did not stretch as much as I had thought they would, gut have nice dense foliage and a pretty good carpet of buds.

They occupy a space of about 40"X40" which is all the room I got under the 600W cool tube. I actually think I could make full use of the light footprint with 3 plants trained correctly. In addition to the 600HPS I have some side lighting going on with a 125W CFL, a couple 60W 2700K cfls, and a UV-B I move around.

Watcha think?

Not much of any smell at all to date. They actually were more smelly during like week 4-6 of veg, of course not a skunky weed smell more of a green vegetation smell. I expect them to be getting some smell to them shortly. I exhaust into my basement and don't even have a filter but have a pretty ideal setup as far as security and who gets near or in my house.

But I got a filter spotted and only a mouse click and 2 days away on amazon.
