4 plants, 1 lb?

i'm growing 4 plants of Big Bud (nirvana) and was wondering if it was possible to yield a pound.. my setup is indoor, soil, under (12) 26w CFL and 150w hps (during flower). i was hoping to get about 4oz per plant, is this a realistic goal?

if you flower under a 150hps you will most likely yield around 75g or 3oz. A good rule is .5g per watt in the flower room

Big bud is that same old same old weed you get that tends to make you sleepy. Make sure you harvest at the proper time if you want anything other than just pure sleep medicine.

If you want to grow a pound from 4 you would need to switch to 600 to 1kw pure HID, ditch the CFL's, grow them to 3' tall or better, and top them a couple times before flowering.

IF you really max out your grow with the lights you have I could see 1/2lb maybe, but that would be with SOG or SCROG or round stadium grows or something more advanced than 4 normal plants.

Aint no way dude! You'd have to harvest like 10 O's per plant "wet weight" to equal 1lb of dried stuff. Thats pretty hefty on cfl's and a 150 hps. If you do well with what you got, you'll get maybe 4 O's dry when all is said and done. Yeah thats all 4 plants together.

thanks for everyone's input so far . so if i get say a 600w hps i'd be closer to getting about 1/2 lb? i'd be straight with that.. i just wanna not have to buy weed for awhile, lol.

I would say 1000 watts should be able to get 1/2-1 Lb of the dank. Def no way your gonna do that with 4 BB plants. Expect about 2 ounces max off the setup you got now.

lol, do it right indeed.. well i think instead of forking over $300+ on a 600w hps system, i'll just buy 4 of those 150w hps pendants from e-conolight for like $130 and hang one above every plant.. that way each plant gets 150w. heat may be a problem tho, is there any diy tutorials for cooltubes?

No don't do that. Look at the cost of the larger 600 and 1000 hps's on econolight, whatever their best deal is on one atm.

Last I checked $75-$100 or so max. You'll get more light and a better deal getting just one big light over four 150's.

Or buy a used ballast (ebay, craiglist) , and just buy a new bulb for it.

All around $100 or less.

150W: 15,000 lumens x 4 = 60,000 lumens total
1000w: 120,000 lumens total

Double the lumens, less or equal cost. 100% increase in lumens

600w: 90,000 lumens

30k lumens more than 4 150's, 50% increase in lumens

yeah i wanted to go with a 600 or 1000w hps, but i didn't see any on e-conolight. does anyone have a link for either? preferably under $200

Hmmm I guess econolight doesn't list anything over 400w any more. I wonder why?

Well in any event you can search ebay or whatever for "600 hps ballast kit"

The best I found in a minute on ebay is this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/600-Watt-High-Pressure-Sodium-Ballast-KIT-Quad-600W-HPS_W0QQitemZ220239205184QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

You can put that together, don't let the kit idea fool you it's no more trouble than the 150's and it's $102 shipped but you'd still have to add a bulb, extension cord and wire nuts.

Many of these used to be $60 kits if you watch, maybe the holidays has cleared them out atm.

Don't overlook used magnetic ballast lights, again $100 isn't hard to manage for either a 600 or 1000w. There is really no price difference between 600 and 1000 lights too btw, whether new or used they're very close in price if not identical if you can manage the 1kw.

thanks oregon, i think i might get something like that and buy the bulb on ebay too. not too good at wiring those kinda things but a friend might be.. do these put off noise and if so, how much? i've read about the digital ballasts being silent but they're wayyy too expensive.

No they have a very slight buzz, you won't hear it over your fan(s).
Actually I think more digitals are louder, except the really expensive stuff.

I took a second look at that kit and it doesn't include the bulb socket either, might not be such a good deal. I'm sure you can find better, google maybe.
