4 weeks veg vs 8 week veg

would the only difference be just the size of the plant? I originally thought about doing 8 week veg/ flower, but now I’ve been thinking about doing 4 week veg and 8 week flower due to not knowing about how tall/ big the plants will be. I have 4 plants in 5 gallon smart pots (I know, I may have been overkill), but I’m somewhat afraid that if I did 8/8 then the 4 plants won’t fit in my 4x4 feet with 6.6foot tall grow tent. People with experience with growing, will you give your insight for me please? This is my first grow.... period. Never grown a single thing in my life. Lol

Honestly I wouldn't put a time frame on how long to veg. I would keep how ever many plants your growing in veg (topping and training) to almost fill your area then flip to flower. The 6foot tall is what would worry me without knowing the type of light your using and how tall your pots are etc....

Using a 1000watt mh bulb, but I have it down to 750watt now. I had originally planned on doing 750 for veg, then switching to hps 1000watts for flowering. The 5 Gal smart pots are 12 inches wide and 10 inches tall. Yeah, the height of the tent is what worries me too. I’ve heard that plants can double in size once you flip to flower

I like 8 weeks of veg (including cloning time), longer veg=bigger yield if you have enough light as it seems you do.
With indicas I wouldn't worry about height, but with Sativas I had to tie them down as they got over 2meters in height...

Man that’s what I was thinking about doing, but I was like oh fuck, what if they get too tall for the tent?! Then I was like shit I might as well go 4 weeks to make sure everything fits and works. I’m confused on the strains tho. According to the website where I got the seeds, it says the plant is supposed to be 5-6.5 feet tall, but as of right now (2 weeks old today) the blue gelato 41 is an extremely short plant compared to the rest to them

Right now the stems and whatnot seems to be too weak to do LST. At what week do you think I should start to be able to start doing some LST. They seem too fragile now

Ditch the MH and go HPS the entire grow.

Weak stems? Hint hint as to why longer veg times pay off.
They will become a full 2 weeks old today in about 4 hours. At what age do you usually start LST? Also, aren’t MH better for veg vs flowering since it put off more blue light? And hps gives off more red?

MH is less effective in light delivered per watt.

"Today’s best HPS grow lamps (bulbs) also offer a refined output or enhanced spectrum with higher blue range output to assist with vegetative growth. HPS grow light bulbs also maintain their brightness better and last longer overall than MH, although they still become less efficient towards the end of their lifespan and should be replaced before they burn out completely. The general recommendation is to replace HPS grow lamps after 12-18 months of regular use."
