i also wanted to say that i'm going to keep my mothers on veg until about the end of august. then i'll dig 4 BIg holes and transplant them in the ground outside on Sept 1st to be ready for harvest by Nov 1st. Sound good?
They are on week 8 veg now and are in 3 gallon pots.
Should I transplant them into larger pots soon?

This is the hydro forum

You need to find the outdoor growers
for that kind of advice.

well here we are on day 5..
I cleaned out the res. and loaded up 9 gallons of distilled water with my nutes at 1/3 strength for the pro grow and at 1/2 strength on the liquid karma.

I also changed the water in the cloner.

i dont now if its anything, but I was wondering if the plant below is looking completely healthy idk it just seems like the top set of leaves are a little light..

and this is what it would be like if you were a plant in my system..

well hopefully within the next 5-10 days i should be able to add another 16-20 plants the system.. I can't wait. I'm just going to keep cloning until i have to build another hydro system to house them

I think you should consider converting your drip to spray.

Your roots.

My roots.

Both plants are about the same size.

Your plants look healthy,
but I think your growth will accelerate
with better root development.

without a doubt the spray would benefit more than my drip. In the near future i will upgrade it when i have more money to spend on the grow. Thanks for the comparison, it is quite amazing how fast the plants grow in a full blown aero setup

I'm thinking about getting a bluelab ppm meter soon. I have heard nothing but good things about the company and their products.

Those collars you are using,
are made to hold lettuce.

Try some of these neoprene plugs,
that will fit your net pots,
they make them in all sizes.

I am using 2 inch net pots and neo plugs

Scoop off the top layer of gro rocks,
so you can place the neoprene around the stem,
and "plug" the top of the pot,
to prevent gnats from gaining access,
to the roots and pipes.

Neoprene will be soft enough,
to let the plant grow a big stem,
in your net pots.

I am afraid those plastic collars might choke a mature plant.

Keep taking pictures.

Thanks man i actually did not realize the importance of the collars until now. As the plant gets taller it will need more support. I have 3" net pots so i guess i will need to get some 3" neoprene collars

Sweet setup bro, I'm really considering the Aero style for my 1st grow, gonna make a system and grow some tomatoes in it and see how it goes, I will keep watch of this one, I'd like to see where it goes.

ahh yess the mighty gutter grow.

lets see some close ups of those roots, they look a little brown for how young they are....mebe just the nutes.

black tape must have been time consuming. NIce thou!

im making one of those cloners. I am tired of that starter plug tray crap.

I'm betting on the roots being a little brown bc of the liquid karma, turns everything brown. Could be the lighting too.
I use to use the starter plugs too until i realized how easy it is to use the bubble cloner. I'm thinking about making a larger cloner that uses ez clone misters for a full aeroponic effect.

hey everyone, just made some changes

Ever since i started the hydro system my biggest problem has been the fact that i dont have enough mother material to take 30-40 clones at one time. So what i did was i pulled the 6 plants in the pvc banks and transplated them into my loose rockwool media on the ebb/flow tray.

the good thing is that all of these plants are roughly 2 weeks of age despite the height difference. So there will be plenty of clones i can take at one time with 7 total.

mounted my 1000w MH

Now i still have roughly 20 clones that will go into the pvc banks at one time if they root. And then i will take as many clones from my soil mothers for the next ~20 to go in the pvc for a full 40. then one week and its flower time

I'm really hoping that they root. My last attempt has nearly 90% success rate. Its day 8 and still no roots.
Its just a bubble cloner.

Is it bad to have the stem barely touch the water or should they be above??

I'm using Distilled water, h202 at tsp per gallon, and i think 1 tsp of bloom nutes. Should i be using different solutions? Let me know something

whats up everybody
I made some additions and figured out some things about my clones.
I have a fully functional DIY flood table now.

Temps stay about here

I added a fan in the floor to help circulate air

some healthy growth so far... These are my future mothers for when i start flowering my 4 huge ones in soil.

I havent really noticed any transplant shock from when i pulled them from the pvc system.

Also to help my lower foliage get more light a added a 70 w HPS in the middle of the 4 mothers. I have a fan blowing on it. It is almost cool enough to touch.

If you remember the clones in the cloners (about 20).. I might have determined why i have no roots yet.

WTF!! :spew:

Evidently there is some kind of bacteria. I was reading today about cloning and saw something about gray slime on the clones stem. I closely checked my clones and for it all over the stems. There is also a Musty smell. I dont know where i went wrong but if anybody has some advice on what may have caused this let me know.

Water in the cloners was distilled with a little bloom nutes and h202. I might not have cleaned the cloners out enough before changing water.

In the mean time i am waiting on ez clone misters to come in from greentrees H so i can build an aerocloner similar to stinkbuds or the growfaq one.

1/2" pvc pipe with all the tees and elbows. 11/64" bit for drilling the pvc and just screw the ez clone misters right in. The manifold should be just above half way level. Fill to just below manifold.
The pump will be a 396 eco. Just a rough sketch but i think it should do the trick. I have some root tech gel and clonex gel and solution as well that i will be using.

I'll cut the clone, dip into the gel, place in a 2" n. collar, and load it in the system.
I'm going to put the cloner together and sterilize it.
Use pH 6 tap water. Run 2 airstones in the bottom 24/7. Run the water pump 24/7 and keep the temp of the water at 73 or less.

Make sure you watch the relationship between the net pots and the sprayers. In a matter of a few days your roots will hang down all the way to the sprayers. You want to make sure that there are no sprayers directly under the pots because the roots will grow over them and fuck up the spray. I'll give you one guess as to why I know this will happen:mrgreen:.

I tried running my cloner 24/7. Water temps went up and I had a problem with algae. Went back to 1 minute on and 5 minutes off. Water temps went back down and no more algae. I have yet to loose one clone.

NO NUTES! You want the plant starving for food. That makes them send out roots looking for it. If you use nutes the cuttings will just sit there sucking up all those good nutrients instead of growing roots.

The cloning gel will be washed off in about 2 seconds...
The good news is you don't need anything other than water for a 100% success rate.

The most important thing to remember when making clones is where you take the cuttings. Cuttings from the top tips of the plant will take weeks longer to root than cuttings taken from the very bottom of the plant. Think new fresh growth with no wood, just green. A tiny little small cutting taken from the bottom of the plant will pop roots and out grow a huge, woody cutting taken from the very top.

Good luck bro!!! Post some more pics once you get it going...

Instead of connecting the two ends run legs down with end caps to support the manifold. Think of it like a table with legs. You don't need the end sprayers anyway.

Unless of course you can get good support from the pump. It's possible if you can figure out a good stable connection to the pump. I use a soft hose and the 1/2'' PVC fits over it. It offers no stability though hence the leg solution I came up with.

Hello everyone..

i've been pretty busy the past week with everything.

Here is my diy aero cloner i built tonight. I'm testing it out and the spray is pretty consistent throughout, but i have leaks around the sides of the tub.

There is a 500gph pump running 24/7. I'm going to check the temps after a few hours of use. The cloner is in my bedroom closet in the basement which stays pretty cold (around 68-70) so i think the temps should be about right. We'll see. I'm just using pH'ed tap water (~6).

I'm out of neoprene, need to pick up some more. As far as the leaks.. i'm going to pick up some grips from lowes and see if i can clamp the top down better. I hope i can seal it off. Let me know if anybody's got a better idea:neutral:.

I gave rockwool a second go while i was waiting for my misters to come in... Its been 4 days and they are looking healthy. just started to crack the dome today.

My mothers are looking healthy as well as the plants on the ebb and flow table with the exception of a small bit of yellowing leaves at the middle of the plants. I changed to res. and used distilled water with 1/2 strength pro grow Sun.

Thanks for checkin in.. I cant wait to get the ball rollin on the cloner so i can fill up my pvc system. Hit me up
:peace:
