Been lurking for awhile and registered recently.
Man oh man the info available.
With the info I learned, I decided to start my first grow!!
2 Apollo 11, 2 Purple Wrex, and 2 Sour Diesel! That is, if I didn't get them mixed up. lol
I started under 6, 4' flourescent 40 watt plant tubes.
2 on top, 2 on each side, all running the length of my shelf.
Everything looks really nice, or at least they do to me. But I'm so green, I wouldn't know a tomato plant from (insert your favorite strain here) lol :wall:

I guess I'm second guessing myself or just don't know any better. Everytrhing is nice and green, and they look nice and bushy and short. Or at least they do to me!! :-o

The pic didn't come out as green as they actually are, but believe me, they are really really green.

Do you think they would do better under several CFLs instead of the tubes?

I have a 400 watt HPS/MH system on the way for flowering. But i want to stick with the flourscents for vegging.

Also, check out what I learned to do yesterday from here!!
Thanks Uncle Ben!!

I hope it works!! Looks like the right side is already starting to turn upwards!! YAYY

Whats your input?
Thanks!

Your plants are looking wonderful, I see you topped them, those shoots are already starting to come up nice. now the tubes vs cfl is really debatable, I know some people, al they grow is with those tubes, but some people like the cfls because they can position them in certain areas of the grow, making it real easy to surround a plant with light. It looks like the tubes are doing a splendid job growing the plants already, why stop, why not add in several cfls around the sides of the plants and keep the flourecent tubes there, idk thats my oppinion, happy toking

plants look good dont dought yourself you will do fine and i have to side with stone on this one why not use both unless there is a reason not to or you just dont want to lol either way good job so far bro
good luck
keep up the good work
peace

to anyone interested
home depot right now has a 10 pack of T12 40w bulbs for 14$ out the door
and the Lithonia lighting shoplight( 4' T12 40/34/25w) model number 1233 is under 10$. light is put together and has a 5' cord on it
160w with 6 extra bulbs for 32 bucks is quite the deal, not to mention you wont need to buy bulbs for 10 years
