400 ballast/430 bulb?

i have purchaced a used 400 ballast and all the shop sold were son agro 430 bulbs,i know that a 400 will not power the full 430 but will it still get out 400 from the bulb or is it such a mismatch that it is not worth useing and i should wait to get a 400 bulb when i go to town next week and scrap the 430.thanks.has any one used this configuration.

my ballast is marked for 430,,so be safe and use what it says,,,,good luck

the manufacturers website says it can be used with a 400 ballast with out problems,im just wondering if it will give out a proper 400,as well the 30 extra is in the blue spectrum,so i wonder how that breaks down just useing a 400 ballast,thanks for the reply hole.

I'm sure the extra blue spectrum comes out in the light as a HoLE,with the other spectrums,,you would just be using only 400 watts of it,,thats our math for the day

yes you can use a 430watt bulb with a 400 ballast, but you will only get 400watt of lumens only.

thanks all,for your speedy replies i will send you each some fresh moose meat,they eat organic,the meat is a rich healthy dark red,not like the steroid cows on the market.maybe there is mad moose desease lol.but getting back to the 430 so it should provide about 50,000 lumens then.thanks.
