You can start the seeds 12/12, they will grow like normal until they start hitting sexual maturity then they will flower. I got quite a generous yield running visions Northern Lights like that, I didn't like the Big Bud by them as much but it was still a decent producer.

Look for the 12/12 from seed thread lots of folks do it with great results.

seedlings and cuttings won't mind, you will have to keep it very close though, mature plants no way.

Just planning preparations at the moment. It needs to be in a tent, I think I'm decided on a 1m x 1m x 2m grow tent. 250w HPS, just as I did last time, I'll see how it pans out. I'm not after a huge yield, I just want to reach harvest haha. Probably 1 plant, needs to be kept small. I'm looking into starting from 12/12.
 
think bigger, one plant grown 12/12 from seed under a 250 will cost more to grow than the end product will be worth
 
LST Topping and Super Cropping look into these techniques of height management. Or get indica dominant strains. Northern Lights I did stretched very little while the Pure AK I did stretched 2x while some other pheno's barely stretched at all. The stretchy Phenos would stink out the block. The less stretchy phenos would yield like crazy but produce lesser quality herb in the end.

Personally I'd do two-three plants in that space. But I completely understand wanting to do 1. Find something easy that doesn't stretch, check strains out on Seedfinder.eu or ask around the seed section here.

You could get a nice Bubba Kush I don't think they stretch much, you'll get some nice colours in the end maybe, and have some great tasting smoke.

Ah yes, smell... One of my biggest enemies haha.

I have neighbours next to my room, disabled, but still neighbours. A thick layer of brick separates us. I've heard this stuff works wonders on small grows.

Dude, those LEDs (apart from the vipar one maybe) are dung.........dont waste your money on them....if you live anywhere near the growell shop i have a buddy whos selling a 600w hps bulb, ballast and brand new reflector and rope ratchets for 30 english pounds.......

that size tent you would easily grow out 4x indica dominant strains without issue.......

COCO would be my choice of starter medium......its very forgiving and less hassle than mixing up your own super soil

dont know why people bashing the CFLs , I like the 300w dual spectrum CFLs i got two and they seem to be doing a good job....check my thread

i think it will get too hot in there with only a 4inch fan with a 600w
you will need to leave the tent open all the time or it will most likely not work out very well
or get a bigger fan 6inch or even 8 and cool tube you will be able to close the tent and keep it at 80f maybe

power is cheaper here than in quite a few states in the USA
around 13p per kWh which is around $0.22 kWh
still i wouldn't call this cheap the price has doubled in the last 20 years

Using a 250w hps in a "large buxbox growtent". Before I go ahead and buy it, my only concern is the noise, the tent is quite close to where I sleep. Might have to look into fan mufflers
