400 w hps cooltube without fan?

Hello all!
Just got done with our very first grow. Used shop lights (7 fixtures 14 tubes, 2700k for veg and 6500k flower) 15 plants (BC BUD) all bag seed all female (somehow!) all organic, dirt and Alaska fish sqeezins and Alaska more bloom 4 months and 3 solid oz. of bud and 2 more oz. of some very potent "sugar leaf".

Wife just purchased a new 400 w digital switchable light with 6" inlet/outlet and a 6" elicent fan with speed controller.

I am wondering do I HAVE to run the fan all the time with this setup? Will the bas icily sealed light get to hot if we don't have the fan on?

Or is it OK to only run the fan say in the summer to pump some of the heat outside?
This is a 10 x 10 x 6 high basement grow.

i would run the fan while the light is on

the benefit of running your fan when the light is on is that you can lower the light to within a foot, getting better yields

I just realized if I wanted to run the light without the fan all I would probably have to do is simply take off the glass lens/cover duh. At that point it should be like any non cooled light.
