400 W MH bulbs/.

Will the 400W MH bulbs @ Lowe's work for veg? It's nothing special, just a 400W MH bulb.

Will work. Might not be ideal spectrum but it will still work.

I use cheap bulbs for veg. Flowering is when you need the good bulbs.

i used a 400 watt mh buulb from lowes, and i think it works good. im using a plantmax conversion bulb now to flower with.

you can judge how well it works by how much your plants stretch... the node spacing

noobs think a bulb is good because their plants are growing tall, but really the plant is stretching up tall because its looking for some real light

its all in the node spacing

all my nodes are 2" or less apart almost 4 weeks into 12/12

I'm supernew...meaning I'm a newb. Isn't stretch primarily a factor of distance from light source, where light source distance is based around heat?

i keep my light as close as i can for a temp at the tops of my plants to be about 78 with 82 as max temp. a air cooled hood helps allot.

2 inch node spacing at 4 weeks flower is good imo


plants will stretch when they arnt getting enough light... maybe they arnt getting enough light because the light is too weak, or because the light is too far away, or because the light is being blocked out by other plants ect
