I am wondering how safe it would be to run a 400 watt hps setup without a grounded outlet. I wanted to use the light in my closet as my electrical fixture by using a plug adapter. Is this a terrible idea? Because I would like to not have any wires running into my closet. My buddy said he ran his 600 watt hps without one but, I don't think of him as the smartest guy in the world.

I run my 400w without earth ground. Just keep your water and electrical shit way apart and you should be good.

nah man, for the saftey of everyone including yourself, rewire it. dont take the chance. both of u guys are foolish.
they dont put that third prong there to be cut off............ move a fire extinguisher in ur grow room and never leave again if ur gonna use it w/o ground. goodtimez and goodluck

You can add a round simply by running a wire (same gauge) to a water pipe (copper/metal not the PVC/plastic obviously)
But the ground is there for safety, not functionality.
