4000 in an 8x8????? Heat issues.

Hey guys, havent been on the site for quite some time. getting ready to set up my new room here. Jumping up from a 2x1000w set up to a 4x1000 set up. I wanna do a CGE grow with CO2 so I'm buying a tent. The only problem is i can only use an 8x8 space so im going to go with the grow lab 7'11x7'11x6'7 tent. I know i can fit the 4x1000s in it but will heat be an issue if properly vented. Ive never had to use AC before and now since im going to be pumping co2 from a tank i know my temps can go a little higher. My main question is, is it possible to pull this off without the use of AC? Im kinda on a tight budget and a decent AC unit really isnt in the cards. plus im not going to have room for it either. the whole room is a 9x12 but im going to leave the 3 feet outside the tent for the ballasts, resivor, nutes basically all i want in the tent is the lights, plants, and the dehum. Have you guys ever seen 4000's crammed into an 8x8? looking to pull the max...lol any thoughts ideas comments, greatly appreciated.

i would just stick the 2x1000w in there. 4 of them is just overkill.
Are the lights air cooled?
also using co2 you want your temps around 80-85 degrees so going with 2 lights would probably be best. youll have to get some kind of cooling if your running 4 i would think.

yeah their all 6inch air cooled, im going to be using two vortex inline fans to vent.........i allready have all four of the lights, maybe ill do two in there and do a seperate room in the shed then.... my goal is 4lbs in the tent.....is this feasable with what im working with....thats basically 4oz a plant average...not sure if that obtainable indoors

well with 2000w in there if you get 1 gram per watt you would get 4 and a half pounds....but you have to be doing pretty good to get 1g a watt...some people get more then that too, its all in how dialed in that you have it...so you could do it.

Best i can say is switch yur light cycle to on dureing night time and off at day.

Get a monster outtake and a decent intake (smaller than outake) and have it drawing cold air from the outside.

Granted depends on your weather.

Hope it helps.

My climate is up in the mountains so it stays pretty cool here, even when it gets hot there is hardly any humidity in the air.....I live well over 6,250 above sea level...im gonna try n run 2 6 inch vortex fans on the intake of the lights and two 8 inchers with condensers pulling the air out......each set will run two lights.......i hope it works.....i just dunno know how im gonna keep the room cool inside the tent suince itll be sealed off......lots of fans and maybe ill find a way to get a small ac unit in there....i duno....keep you guys posted

you can probaly run cold air from the fall and winter to cool your lights then it shouldn't heat up your room so you can run co2 but I don't know if it would hurt the bulbs runing realy cold air over them it takes a lot of work to efficiantly run co2 most people use ac with it

Hey OP. I have a 5x10 tent. Blockbuster 6" reflectors, 3 of them. I doubt you will be able to pull off 4. 1. The weight of that many lights will destroy even the most sturdy of tents. Heat doesn't have to be an issues. Mine cools to around 80-83 degrees with an 8" out take fan/carbon filter. Intake is strictly by negative pressure.

I want to change from air cooled to liquid cooled in the future. That way, less huge fans, better temps, more sealed so C02 becomes easier to use. Check this out. No AC, just a water chiller which are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more efficient than AC units.

can you skip the tent, and just set up something to hang the lights on? The more space the more heat will go elsewhere, spreading in the area upwards away from the plants.

if youre daging air fro outside during summer becarfull for bugs and spores been pulled in. you can get airfilters for this or a pair of tights will add some protection. i do the same in my tent and just this kinute had to put filtters over my vents. also. if you do turn them of birds and bees can get in these to. so try some fine metal gauge in the ducting before it reaches you're intake. also negative pressure with them lights is a must

4000 watts in a 8x8 is easy to pull off ... just need ventilated hoods and an a/c... a/c can be outside tent just cut a hole for the air to go in

i don't think it's going to be possible. even if you ran intake and exhaust fans and scrapped the whole CGE grow i still don't think it would be possible. doesn't mean you can't try though. if you have dial-a-watt ballasts maybe try running them at 600w with 600w bulbs. don't use any XXL hoods either; you can't fit 4 of them in that tent. also, they make extra tent supports for the growlabs. they are called hercules supports. you can find them online. you would need 4 pairs probably to give you the added support for that many hoods.

i think your are gonna have to stick with 2000w for now and then switch it up to 4000w after you can afford to get a decent portable a/c that can be ducted from outide the tent. as someone mentioned before too; use a filter on the intake for you lights. since you are going sealed you don't have to worry about spores and mold as mentioned, but it will help keep your hoods and bulbs clean. any sheet of hepa or carbon filter is just fine. you are only trying to keep the dust out.

good luck.

I build rooms, and I use a single 1000 watt light per 8x8 area if that helps any. Make sure you seal those glass shields so you get no blow-by. If you have 4 of these lamps coming you might consider splitting your area. and create a mother/clone- veg room. In an area you can drop your light rather low with mh in a sealed hood. If you start your plants at about 2.5ft off the ground including the pot, you will have plenty of room to pull that light up providing deep saturation through the folliage. This is a good option for an area the size you are describing. Its a room within a room.https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/623029-425-00-transition-mylar-solid.html
