400W CMH upgrade help

Well as the title states I'm looking to upgrade to a 400W CMH but am having a hard time figuring out what ballast or fixture to get. I was trying to see if HomeD or Lowes carried a HPS fixture that will fit the bill but have come up with nothing. If you know any site or have a link of a fixture or setup that will run the CMH please help me out, Thanks.

an hps ballast is what you need. No electronic ballasts unless they specifically say they can take cmh or the cmh bulb specifically says it can be used in an electronic ballast.

Well these are the two choices for a HPS system, looking for some suggestions which of the two. Sorry for all the questions but i saved enought for this upgrade and what to make sure I end up with something decent. Thanks for all your help, this is a great site for learning and sharing.

Yeah check out HTG Supply, They have good prices, decent quality stuff and great customer service. Also they have cheapo setups on E-bay for real cheap. Amazon.com is another good spot to look for light setups and supplies. =)

Ive been using one of the $119 htg ballasts for about 4 years now with no problems. Ive been using it with a cmh bulb for about 2 years now with no problems.

Thanks mafia, atleast i know its being used for the same purpose i want it for. Were you get your CMH bulb and what model?

Whenever you buy from htg ask them for a discount/haggle with them. Especially on a purchase like this. I've never had them not give me a discount when i emailed them(i used the contact us on their page), saved hundreds of dollars, literally.

Yeah i guess i will try that and see what happens..Doesnt hurt to ask

you mean how much is shipping? I was curious myself and checked the site out and it seems its 9.95 flat rate shipping. Although they dont specify if the handling charge is included in it.

They ship same day.. From West Coast to East Coast in under 5 days. Ordered twice and never took more than 5 days. One came within 3 days. Great company that is always bombing my inbox with promo codes..

Edit: Correction. They're out of Michigan.
