I've got a 400w hps/mh setup in a room about 5'x5'x4' room. I've also got 6 6'' clones. How high should the light be above the canopy? Thanks in advance.

i wouldnt have unrooted clones under the 400w unless they are under a humidity dome with something blocking the light, clones will not root under bright light, they will keep trying to grow instead. If the are rooted, start at about 2-3 foot, then move it down to 1 foot as you notice that they are coping

They are rooted. thanks. i'll start at 3 feet nd see how it goes. I was also wonderin how tall i can grow the plants if my room is 6ft' tall. Im not sure how tall to veg them so that i still have room for them with the light in the end. Thanks again.

I have mine air cooled so I can keep mine just a little lower. This time around I have Lemon skunk actually touching my lens but the light is cool to the touch so there is no burn.

Use the hand method stick your hand where the plant is under the light if it burns your hand in 30 sec it will burn the plant my 400 i damn near had the light right on top of the canopy my 1000w is about 16 inches away from canopy no problemo

we have nearly the same setup... Lighting and dimension wise, I have my light 13 inches above my 1 week old seedlings. I also have a fan blowing over the top of the canopy, but the hand method works best imo. good luck with your grow
