400w - Jack Herrer & Bag Seed - 12/12 from seed!

Ok so after my first failed attempt due to my cousin I 86'd all CFLs besides one 125w for supplement light & purchased a cool tube 400w MH/HPS dimmable ballast with a Wing reflector. All this in a closet no larger than 4' by 7'. Will post pictures of the closet itself once I get my Mylar set up and the inline fan in there connected to my carbon scrubber and cool tube.

I popped a jack herrer bean into a home made dwc bucket and put a random indica/sativa (looking more indica to me at this point) I got from BDS in a 2gal of MG soil.

The random indica popped up like two days before the Jack but both are no more than two weeks old. Not good with exact dates, ha.. Not looking for a crazy yield which is why I went with 12/12 from seed; I'll be satisfied with a zip per plant then the real fun begins when I put two more dwc buckets in there with a scrog screen and some more CFLS.. But that's in the future

Soaking up some of that 400w HPS and 2700k CFL light aha, due for a watering today actually.. You can see the soil is getting pretty dry.

Wanted to wait and fix all of my set-up before posting a second update but fuck it, my panda film coming in tomorrow and then I'll be able clean up and throw in my other DWC buckets. Inline fan going to take another week or so to come in. I've switched my light schedule, 18 - 6 now.. About to up it to 20 - 4 in another week.

This is the random indica I got from BDS.. Growth really slowing up in that 2gal pot but it'll have to suffer.. I'll throw it into a 5gal smart pot once I start flowering as long as those pre-flowers show me something promising I topped it about three days ago.. You can see everything evening up a bit.


The Jack really exploded in that DWC; this baby was actually like 2-3 days behind the indica up there ^^^. I also topped it about two days ago.

Update will come again when everything is more cleaned up.

Not sure how long since I've planted but on Monday I will finally put my lights up to 20/4 where it will stay for around 2 - 3 weeks before flipping to 12/12.

I lined the walls with panda film and put the random indica in a bucket. I thought I saw male pre-flowers so I'm not doing to much for that plant until sex is confirmed. Pictures below (along with what I believe are some male pre-flowers, confirm someone?)


This is the Jack in DWC.. It was a fem seed from BDS but the last one I grew out turned out to be a male. Let's hope that's not the case here!! See anything?


The Jack was showing some signs of nute burn which is weird since the ppms are around 500, not even passed 600 surely.. I topped off the rez with some very diluted nutes. If nothing changes in the next day or two I will change the rez out completely with distilled water and let it flush for a week before introducing pre-bloom nutes

Quick Update - I'm pretty sure I see female pre-flowers on the Jack.. The pre-flowers on the smaller 'indica' is still confusing me, maybe too early to tell I guess, but some look female and some look male.

So, worst luck ever.. Lights gone out on the plants for 4 - 5 days due to some issues with lighting. I put them into 12/12 since then to try to ease the shock of not having light for so long and try to start flowering, only time will tell but I think it's already a little too late.. I feel like all I see are male preflowers on both plants. It's only been 3 - 4 days of them being under 12/12 so I'm not making any decisions yet.

I counted like 10 tops or more on the Jack.. The canopy really evened up with the two toppings I did.

Since yesterday I've noticed these leaves turning yellowish. Obvious deficiency for my new growth. Going to refill the rez with bloom nutes in distilled water today see if any difference is made.
