i tried the hand test and its cool but the leaves of my plants are clawed and one plant looks dryed up a little
400w metal halide right now its about 19 inches away

I have a 400 watt metal halide on my 3 weeks old seedlings it's a sunleaves 8 inch air colled hood with just take little fan on them and I am at 12 now bit I think I can even go closer. Those air hoodes work I rather lose little light then burn my ladies. When I had the other hood on em that was an old hydrofarm hood no glass and would constantly overheat shooting high Temps. Even ac could barely cool it down. But if you going hid bro get the better cooled hood. I think you got it though just keep close eye. I also burnt two of my seedlings up with super thrive shit is very strong. But I learned from trial and error good luck
