65% RH will not do for drying/curing bud.

I am only talking about the *final* moisture level.

....and I am using the RH that the buds make *inside a sealed jar*
as my measurement.

The RH that I dry at is that of where I live, but this is a coastal
desert environment, and the RH is usually in the 20-50% range.

I know it's all easier said than done. And I can't say,"this is better than this.." cause I really have no fuckin' clue other than what I'm told.
Hell, I've never even had a hygrometer inside of a curing jar before. I'm just the lowly ol' noob trying his best to fit in.

... AKA Storage RH, haha.

I got ya brother, needs are needs for your region. It`s like 50-60% RH where I am during the coming months. Hench Why I keep it so low myself. You have a nice handle on your environment Java :). CP, try not to get confused, if you`re having a harvest you expect to last about 3-4 months, you`ll be fine with the method I prescribed earlier, Java has different storage needs than you may. We`re all on the same page :)

Here in Michigan humidity is always jacked way up. It's 3pm, 70*F, and 85% humidity..

So someone help me out..
What is the "ideal" FINAL RH inside the curing jar supposed to read on my hygrometer?

As for doing LST in a confined space, I know exactly what you're saying. My last grow was a total pain in the ass.. trying to have 6 large plants tied off in every which way. Didn't think ahead on that one. Which isn't saying much, since I didn't really know what the hell I was doing to begin with.

Reading this thread with great interest, great stuff guys---CP, never a truer word spoken mate, I'm in the middle of that tying every which way but loose scenario right now and its freaking me out. Going to SCROG next grow for sure

I'm so confused..
I just automatically assume that when talking about RH and the curing phase, it pertains to the RH inside the sealed jar.
According to the man with a plan:

In a perfect world --- Germination = approx 80% RH, Veg = approx 60% RH, flower = approx 50% RH, Drying 40% RH, Curing under 35% RH

So I see that as: germ - drying are the room's RH listed. And the 35% curing RH is what you're shooting for in the end, inside the jar.
Or am I still not understanding this?

All I really need to know is, what do I want my hygrometer inside the jar to read?

I believe that these are all "RH in the room".

Assuming this quote: We cure at 35% RH until our buds are at 65%.

What I cannot specify for certain as to what "our buds are 65%" means
except that this is the RH they make sealed in a jar. i.e. does this mean
that they buds themselves are 65% water. LOL. No.

Anyhoo, I think that we all see the same things, and are just a tad confused
by the terminology.

Okay, I`ll try to lay this one out clear as possible for a staple reference, based upon what I strive for and have had good results with.

All the RH in the quote mentioned above are room RH values (otherwise a `space` moisture level). However, the curing stage reflects an in-jar RH value. Actually put a therm/hygro in the actual jar and let it for a few hours. When I checked it again the space and jar very within 1% RH of each other, so really the Cure can be the jar or the space.

In terms of storing values for RH, areas like Michigan (or Southern Ontario like me) get pretty high natural RH in our regions as we`re just off the Lakes, we would in turn want to keep our RH values fairly low as to prevent mold and imperfections in the final product. However, if you`re in a drier area to begin with, controlling these variables are less crucial unless of course you`re curing for prolonged storage and/or sale (bad practice though IMO, quality trumps quantity anyday). I keep the RH low for the best possible final product when smoked, leaving excess moisture in the product will only degrade it`s quality as it`s prolonged in that manner (molds and fungus fester and grow with RH prolonged above 50%).

My "projected harvest" is exactly 4 weeks from today (give or take). That'll be day 70 of 12/12, which is 8 weeks since they started flowering.

Are you running the same setup as page 1?
Soil: Mixed soils of ~ Miracle Grow 6mo. feed + Miracle Grow moisture control. (last time using this stuff. Will be HappyFrog or Ebb & Flow from here on out. Still deciding which route to go.)
Nutrients: none, other than what's provided by the soils.
Water: 6ppm RO as needed

Plants look great!
 
For the most part, yeah. Only difference is I began using Jack's Bloom Booster 2 weeks into the 12/12.
This scrog is officially my last time using Miracle Grow. I've already begun using an organic Black Gold soil with my clones and new strain.

got one question for ya cpmass i noticed you had some fly trap and wanted to know where you got them from.
they are so cute and ive wanted to grow some for a while. just havnt found a good source. all the seed i have purchased fail to germinate.

I actually don't have any flytraps. I only grow tropical carnivorous plants..
And VFT's are native to the Carolina's.
The plant in my avatar is one of my Nepenthes veitchii from the Kalebit Highlands of Bario in Malaysia. Which is a tropical pitcher plant..
I'm sure there's plenty of actual plants available on eBay though, to answer your question.
