48" fluor's vs. CFL

Florescent tube out do cfls any day of the week. They cover better,penetrate deeper,run cooler,cost less then cfls and you dont have to move them 5 times a day to avoid cfl heat burns..I posted some T8s stuff in this thread take a look

arite guys, let's not turn the debate somewhere else, HPS vs. CFL is on waay too many posts.

See, i agree with FilthyFletch; the light setup i got cost me approx. $25.00 and the light output is great, all my plants are doing just fine. I will be changing to HPS, but I agree there is alot more danger with it, because one droplet of water can have catastrophic consequences, especially in a small grow room.

Anyhow, I think in the end it really just depends on where you're growing; if it's appropriate to fit a 4' ballast in your closet it can work; if you have more compact room, CFL's. Awesome results come from each type of lighting used, as the techniques differ.

I'll stick with my cfl's and flouro tubes, cheap and reliable, if used right they do the job great.
Like I said I'm not growing for profit, mine is a personal matter Haha.

Its all realative. CFLS unless the one made for growing such as viatlumes which are actual wattage 125,200,225,250 and 300 watts dont grow very well and toss alot of heat then you have to rig everything such as reflectors and splitters and powerstrips so you have major fire hazards waiting.Now if you grow one small plant and wanna use 6-10 bulbs and move them and deal with the hassle yeah smaller cfls can be used but the yield and desity will show and be disappointing.The florescent tubes come in a variety of sizes colors,and setups.If your in a small tight area a fe 2 foot T5s will do great for veg we know you wont be vegging with florescent lights excpet a bank of T5s which will work.My buddy uses 2 4x4 hydrohuts with 4 sets of T5s each with 8 bulbs and gets nice dense high yields.I wouldnt reccomend flowering with less then T5s in a heavy amount but for veg florescent tubes will out do cfls everytime.
