What I'm trying to say is that is not the correct type of inline fan to use as far as I am aware. What you showed was an inline boost fan and is not a good way to go.

Just trying to look out for you bro.

I also asked some time back and can't remember you saying> Where are you venting the tent to? The bedroom? outside?

^ what lambofgod said. I know your keeping the bills down so it's all good. It's always good to have some extra room in the tent. It always gets used up anyway ;)

What he's talking about is that 6" vent booster fan you bought. I bought one and used it my 400 and did not do a good job cooling at all. I'll bet money that you gonna run into heat issues if that's what your planning on using. What you need to get is an inline fan that pulls a least 400-500 cfm.

Ok thanks i will look into those fans. I do not want to jack around with heat issues so ill try to return the scrubber and get a larger one.

Should be okay. I got a 3x3x8 closet and I got a 530cfm and it stays around 77-82 deg. That's with a 600 watter though. With the booster fan it was in the high 90's with a 400 watter.

I might have to go down to a 5 inch scrubber, i only have two 6 inch vents i was planning to use for my cool tube.

and that, at 449 cfm.

these will take care of your problems in the future...specially if you decide to toss another light in....then your heat issues will be kept at bay.

I'd return the duct booster fan...or keep it, seeing as you could come across a use for it in the future.

re reading I'd offer this advice:

cool your cool tube with the duct booster, then get a 6" can filter and 6" fan to recycle the air in your room.

I dont run a cool tube, just regular hood, so the 6" pulls all the hot air out of the room.

TBH, I'm thinking more along the lines of you having more lights....a 400 watt shouldnt be too hard to keep cool, its when you slap a 1k in the tent that things get really nasty.

my tent has 2- 6 inch , 2-5 inch and 2-4 inch vent holes. Im not sure how to attach the scrubber and lights to the 6 inch holes.

Ill probably keep the booster fans for a later project down the road. glad im finding out now that they arent powerful enough. you saved me alot of time!

u can go with a 4" fan to cool your cool tube, use one of the 6" vents for your carbon filter. you could also use 6" to 4" reducers and use your duct booster fan to cool the cool tube, then use a 6" fan and filter in the 6" vents.

id imagine this as your setup

4" hole>4" duct>4"-6" reducer> cool tube> 6" duct> 6" booster fan> 4"-6" reducer>4" duct> 4" vent hole.

then...hanging above that.

6" carbon filter>6" duct>"6 fan>6" duct>6" vent hole.

that way u can keep the duct booster fan, u dont have to order another new fan besides the 449cfm vortex.

see the duct booster fan will cool your light enough that the other 6" fan with carbon scrubber will do the rest of the work....personally i feel all you need is the vortex and the scrubber.

those two alone will combat heat issues, since you are only using a 400 watter.

but since u have a cool tube i can understand why you want to hook up another fan and cool it.

I might have missed something but it seems like you are making that really complicated. Are you pumping c02? If not I would make it simple.

Have your filter in the tent and pull through it, then your cool tube, then outside your tent to your fan, and then where ever you want the hot air. If you have everyting in 6" go with that, if not go with the appropriate downsizers - only need to use one vent hole for this and it ensures a vacuum within the tent so no stinky air escapes. Passive intake is enough.

I use the inline fan similar to the one you purchased. My tent runs about 7 degrees warmer than ambient temperature of it's environment.

Awesome, i will give your suggestion a try and see how it works for me.

I really like your tent! Mine isnt in a permanent location or i would add side lighting to mine as well.
When i move i will totally do that though.

yeah that is a nice tent.. and his suggestion for the ducting is what I've been seeing alot of tent growers doing.. I've also seen the fan inside the tent but ran similar, wonder if that raises the temp inside the tent? Don't know how hot the fans run so putting it outside is probably best.. man can't wait to get a tent :bigjoint:

the more i think about it the better i like the simple design plan. Ill duct everything together when i get my new scrubber in.
I realize there will be left over space in the tent, as im only growing 5 plants because im worried about the light dispersal with the cool tube i bought. I only have 5 ak48's and a couple single seeds, flower power and grapefruit. so i will fit as many as i can in there while staying within reason. I will try to encourage a single cola by not topping them. I will veg in my closet, and flower in the tent.

Im going to test out my tent with legal plants, the power company just installed smart meters so i want to run the tent for a while and let the bill equalize as to avoid suspicion. I might lose a a little time but i feel being safe beats a quick harvest. i love growing tomatoes and my dwarf lime tree.
