4ft bamboo stix when and where do I put them?

I'm now on my third grow after two real good grows in soil I'm now using the ebb n grow hydro system with 12 2 gallon pots inside 12slightly larger pots. The 2 gallon pot is full of hydroton clay balls and then there's the rockwool with clone. I want to tie my main stem to these 4ft bamboo stix I picked up at the hydro store. I don't want to hurt any roots so Im thinking they go in on the outer ridge inside the hydoton ? I'm not sure since idealy I want the light closer right now so I'll Waite till there taller? Not sure what to do. Any help will diserve rep points. !!!

Doesn't anyone use bamboo stix to suport there plants?

Hey I use a cap ebb and grow too. Just slip the bamboo sticks in the edge of the pot gently. You won't hurt anything. Just don't use them like swizzle sticks!

but regarding light distance; are you sure you need the sticks? Your plants should be pretty much self-supporting. If they get too heavy late in flower, you can still use the bamboo stakes then.

but seriously, stick it nest to the main stalk of the plant, and tie to it, like a tent post. if they start to go all over the place you have to watch out for the leaning tower of pisa falling over and draining you system so try to make sure they dont get top heavy and out of balance. also dont be afraid of cutting the bamboo down for use as multiple sticks and to get it out of the way of your lights.
if you use 2 canes per plant then put them on the outsides of the buckets and tie a piece of twine back and forth to create a trellis to stabilize the plant.
also if you find this to be a routine problem this summer buy some tomato cages and put them in/on just after planting so you can quasi scrog it an d get a better yield
