idk my duct tape never fails and the wall on both sides is also supporting the turkey pan ,
that duct tape comes off when the pan gets hot or warm ur going to have a FIRElumens are for plants , well maybe not exactly , but there is a certain amount of lumens you want to achieve per sq ft
Lumens, or footcandles is very important because it determines the amount of light the plants are receiving. You could have the best spectrum possible, but if you have low intensity or fc (Sun = 10,000 fc or lumens per sq ft) your specimens will have minimal absorbable light, and therefore seize to flourish. If you had a 400 watt hps the bulb would most likely be 2200K which is suitable for any type of growth, but specifically beneficial during the flowering stages of a plant. Whether you have a 7200K, 3000K or 4000K the plant will grow, the only problem is that you are only seeing positive reaction if these spectrums are used properly during the growth stages.lumens mean nothing to a plant.....people relate to lumens cause they are on the box....... yes more lumens would mean more intesity... but.... measuring lumens is a waist of time.......... its the SPECTRUM OF LIGHT that matters... getting the right colors of the spectrum that benifit the plant is WHAT MATTERS
That's where you're wrong. HPS is superior for flower. They concentrate on red/orange spectrum which the plants require during that phase in their lives. Blue/white is not necessary during flower only when vegging will it be necessary, and in which case you would use a MH bulb. Hence the reason I recommended a switchable ballast?? You start out with a veg bulb then switch to HPS when you flower. You act like you're an expert. I thought you were the one asking for help?HPS lights SUCK they are mainly in the yellows with only slight spikes in blue and orage.... the only way they succesfully grow plants is cause they are so intense.....waist of energy

the only way HPS works for growing is cause it is SO INTENS this link provided shows you the light spectrum put off by HPS...( the one on the right ) as you see it is mostly yellow..( not used by plants) and only slightly in the orange and little to none in the blue/violet ( which you were WRONG if plants could use "white" light wed use reg light bulbs)..............and VERY LITTLE in red....like I said it only does work k cause it is so entense........HPS is a thing of the past and we are stuck on iti cause its been used for so long
I may not be an expert but it is obviouse my learning curve is just a little sharper then yours........ try looking things up before you call some one dumm....here is annother link to help you under stand the light spectrums a plant likes.........scroll to the bottom its in real lamens terms all about how WHITE LIGHT HELPS VEG .... no but it does say how plants dont use " white"

OK sothis is my first grow.... I have been through SEVERAL changes..... I think I am to the point were I can sit back and let them do there thing.... I knowI have stunted there growth dramaticly by messing with them so much(but the changes made wer necissary) I plan to grow either ak48 or blue venom... havent decided yet.....
i have ;
4 ... 4foot florou tubes
2 @ 3600 lumens each
2 @ 3200 lumens ea
the 3600 ones are warm sun"
the 3200 are cool blue"
feels like you get a sun burn when your skin is under them and you dam sure gotta wear shades when I raise the lights to see them....
may plants are probably gettint over 90% of this light and if i calculated right i got a total of 15,800 lumen......thats 5000 more than the sun produces in summer.....is this too much? as you can see i got the lights contoured around the plants....there isnt a part of the plant that isnt getting it full strenth by this light......
good bad?
dont just look......respond.......I got big plans in the next couple months for some DANK and I could use all the input i can get....
some look whilted.... i dont know if it was the 25% increase in nutes(25-8-16)<was at 25% went to 50% deluted> or if it was cause i just added 2 extra lights and surrounded them by it......... what do you think?
well my hps look to be growing my plants way faster than yours and i almost guarantee that mines is bushier to all in all i will get a bigger yield than you will with what you are using
I think yer fulla shit. A 1000w HPS light @ 1 foot away is about as much light as the sun puts out on a cloudy day. and you have nowhere near that much power in yer ship lights budday.
CMHI didn't call you dumb or "dumm" as you stated. I simply tried to help you understand how when you use HPS in conjunction with a MH it can be very beneficial by increasing yield. Don't even try to tell me I'm wrong because I bet I could find dozens of expert growers on here who would agree.
Also, I may have said blue/white but I was referring to the vegetative bulbs or cooler bulbs. Plus the links you have provided have not proven my statements wrong in any way. The one link you sent even states: "High pressure sodium bulbs emit an orange-red glow. This band of light triggers hormones in plants to increase flowering/budding in plants. They are the best grow lights available for secondary or supplemental lighting (used in conjunction with natural sunlight). " Now, natural sunlight in this case is being replaced with a MH during the initial growth or "veg" stages. When switched to 12/12 is when you ideally should use the HPS.
However, seeing how you feel that I am wrong on this matter would you care to enlighten me as to what is the "best" configuration?
plants dont grow on cloudy days..........
