If running leds how many watts are actually needed for a 4x4 space? does 400 watts sound right? This would not be in a tent, however it would have reflective wall around most of it.

450-600 watts of an efficient white or enhanced white light in led. 600-1000w HPS.

im killing it in a 4x4 with just 300w of citi 1212's 6500k. the light was built for a 2x4 but i stuck it in there for the time being but then all the sudden i noticed how happy everything was and growing like mad. the only thing i would change is build a new frame in a 3 2 3 pattern instead of two rows of 4 for the 2x4 design. 20$ worth of angle aluminum and an hours work :)

if i was gonna flower with COBs in a 4x4 i would be at 600-800w and one cob per sqft just because i like overkill when flowering. my 4x8 tables im building right now are gonna be 32 cxm22s with one hlg185 for every row of four, giving ~1600w which i can dim down if need be.

these are getting jacks hydro, cal mag, mammoth p, liquid karma and drip clean. they are in rock wool cubes in pots of rock wool croutons. IMG_1558.JPG IMG_1559.JPG

I aim for 330 for a 3x3, 600 for a full 4x4, 700 for a 5x5, and 1400 max wattage for my standard two table 8x4 grow area that I run.

Now if I were running quantum boards, numbers would be more like 250 for a 3x3, 450 for a 4x4, 650 for a 5x5, and a 1100 watts for a two table "room".

300 watts 4x4 is fire for veg. Flower you can run 600 just fine. I would say just double your veg wattage if you're dimming a single light. If you're running the same efficiency but at a higher wattage (i.e. adding more emitters) then you can really easily get away with about 1.7x the power with current COB tech. For a 4x4, that would equate to about 510 watts or so if you get your spread right.

i have 8 CXB3590s that arrived yesterday and will be putting it together this weekend. Im wondering how I should arrange the LEDs over a 2.5x6 SCROG space? should I just do 2 rows of 4 since I have a length of 6 feet or would you recommend I do 3-2-3?? Would appreciate your input!

also, thank you everyone for jumping in on this one. I am rapidly expanding my grow area from a tent into a grow room, i will have 2 - 4 x 12 grow tables and so i need to light them. This info helps a lot.
