Well today I finished trimming under the screen. The screen isn't totally filled but I should have had 4 plants not three but I only got three. So here's pics above and below the screen, ill probably flip the lights in a couple days. Lemme know what you guys think! If you want anymore info just ask I'm happy to answer

IMO flip now to 12/12 and keep filling the screen with any more growth until its all filled.

You should only 75% fill it during veg and then switch to flower.

Looking nice and lush. Great job! Agree with flipping them into flower. Don't forget to keep giving them the N during transition. Good Luck!

Damn bro, those fan leaves are tiny compared to the #18 I just harvested. Mine had some monster ass fan leaves on it...

You shoulda seen the leaves I took off below the screen. They were huge lol. It was so filled under there that I was moving leaves around and there was water on them, so I added a new fan and finished trimming it up

That's the while point of a SCROG. To limit the stretch by training under the screen for the transition. This way you pretty much get and 8" long bud every where there is a hole in the screen.


By not training after flipping you could end up with 2ft of plant above the screen completely missing the point of SCROG.

It is my understanding that a 600 watt hps has about 18-24 inches of light penetration . So why would I want the buds to come 8" off the screen? Below the screen the plant is bare. Wouldn't I want them to stretch about 14-18"

Its entirely up to you.

But the basics as I mentioned are to keep training during the stretch.

The 14-18" of stretch will shade lower growth making smaller buds under the cola.

You could make those smaller 3" buds into more 8" buds.

Otherwise you may as well just grow 2-3ft tall plants.

The goal of SCROG is uniformity in every bud.

Not one big cola with multiple smaller buds.

If referring to the tutorial, the bud isn't 8" above the screen, ....it's just an 8 inch bud (the base being at the screen) :-)

Ok so I flipped to 12/12 and will train till the screen is all the way full. Man now that I bought that hortilux bulb you can see the way the light just looks cleaner and brighter than the cheapy bulbs

Looking real nice.

I think next time you could make your squares a little smaller.

You have 12x12 squares on a 4x4 SCROG 48"/12=4"x4" squares.

Next time try 2"x2".

With your current screen you may have to have multiple buds per square.


Other than that you're all set for a great grow.

Alright, thanks for the info and rep! I'm gunna try the 2"x2" next go. But before that happens a ill be moving and expanding to a big room I'm gunna have a few 4x4 scrogs going
