I use a slightly smaller tent under 400w hps...do 4-8 plants at a time perpetually....but I use 2 ltr pots...as i grow 90% autos with a photo thrown in sometimes...having grown bonzai trees for decades, I've just adopted some methods to using small pots for my pot too...while it may impact yeild a bit, I much prefer the variety I get with many different strains at one time....been doing it this method for several years now...with no reason to change anything....results have been spectacular and keeps me in the "money"....

I'd say you should have gotten at least a 600 as a 400 is only 25 per square foot of floor in that tent and they say 50 is about tops. You could always add another 400 in some time, or some LED panels if you don't want to bother with the venting and heat as much.

<blows out thick, billowing cloud>

I'd flower no more than 4 in 3 gal buckets, LST all the way. 5 gal buckets are a waste of expensive soil because you don't want your plants much higher than 30" under a 400w due to lack of penetration. Look into the different LST methods to even out your canopy for maximum efficiency.

considering the parabolic shape of that plastic you may be reflecting some useful light directly back to the light source, it will also turn opaque over time from the light damage, even more so if it is acrylic.
i hope you have a good long term solution for your heat.
