Hey all,

I am new to the threads here and frankly growing in-general . I dig the community and hope to become a solid member in due time. but first, my question: has anyone attempted to split the Secret Jardin 240W 4'x8'x7.9' (or similar tents) into two separate rooms for Veg and Flower? If so, I would kill for some photos or an explanation as to how you went about it. Or, if you have any brilliant ideas as to how someone like me might go about it, I am open for suggestions! I would simply purchase a new tent for vegging, but I am tight on space and money (what's new). Thanks! :-P

i split mine for two seperate flower rooms. different light cycles would be tuff but possible.

lotsa duct tape and that heat shield mylar stuff. it wouldnt ruin the tent, you could tape the 2 ft sections together vertically and then tape it to the metal rods that seperate the rooms already, then tape the seam on top and bottom. as long as the tent has two doors your good. i dont think it would look real bad either.

Well I'm assuming your going to spit it into two 4x4 rooms. This is perfect because panda film is like 5ft wide so one strip would work perfect, tape it to the ceiling and a long the walls with duct tape then line each side with a sheet of mylar if you care. THAT is the cheap/quick way, the cheap/quality way would be to use those reflective heat shields for car windows, make a wall with those. For your opposing light schedules you would need to make two zipper doors on either side of the original door, with the center divider wall acting as the joint in the middle to stop light leaks. Obviously, two sets of light timers and ventilation would be ideal with the flowering rooms being the only one needing a carbon filter if everything is air tight......

or as rzza said if there are two separate doors make sure either one acts as a separate entrance and your good.

Reflective car window heat shields!? Brilliant! The room does come with separate doors, so I wouldn't need to worry about adding any... I will look into these ideas and get back to the thread. Thanks!

i just dont see why you would spend SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOO much money on a secret jarin and ruin it by taping those windshield things all over it.

No kidding! Thanks a-million for the idea rzza. I went out and purchased a roll of that insulation and am putting it to use this weekend. My girly has some mad sewing skills so hopefully she could sew two 2x5 pieces together with some industrial strength string. I will post some pictures if it works out.

I apologize for how long this took to post, but here goes... My DR240W Grow Room :)

I went through 2 different designs before I was happy with the performance of the divider wall. My first design failed to stay taped to the rooms inner walls. Apparently, reflective duct tap does not do too well with staying stuck to the reflective material on the inside of the Darkroom. In my second design, I upgraded to a far more resilient material to secure the insert to the reflective material of the tent: 2" wide Adhesive Velcro Stripping.

First I used rzza's suggestion from Home Depot and used one roll of the Reflectix 24 In. x 25 Ft. Double Reflective Insulation as my material for the divider.

I cut it into thirds, making three 2ft x 8.33ft sections, and had my girlfriend sew the thirds together with some fishing line and a strong canvas needle, making it ~6ft x 8.33ft. I made a mock-up on a piece of paper of my design to help me through the cutting process.

I measured cutts along the sides to make the sheet of reflective insulation into a sort of quarter cube.. thing. With an exacto knife, I made the incisions to create the corners. Once cut, I brought it inside the tent and began to fold and tape the corners up.

Then I used one and a half rolls of Industrial Strength Adhesive Velcro Tape to build a light barrier/seal around the outside of the divider, ultimately separating the two rooms from any light/air contact. There was a little trouble getting around the metal structural pipes on the roof, but I simply used old clean socks to fill the gaps.

This also gave me the very cool option of making the insert easily removable, in case I wished to ever use the room as a whole in the future! I taped over the sewing points with some reflective duct tape to keep out any light trying to escape from the veg room.

Of course, I outfitted them to the best of my abilities with ample light and air movement.

I will admit that this setup is a bit over-kill for the size of the rooms, however, this is something I plan to use for the remainder of my life. I also wanted the option of upgrading the room size later without having to purchase a whole new get-up.

That's it! If you are ever interested in doing this feel free to copy my design and throw in a few things of your own. The more the merrier! Here is a few other pictures of the rest of the design..
