2 1000's can definitely be tricky in tents due to heat. If you have air-cooling, and your ambient temperatures around the tent are in check then you could probably get it done. 600 watts are the preferred wattage size in tents strictly for heat reduction. I prefer 1000w digital ballasts because you can dim them down to 50% or 75% depending on your needs.

A 600w light has an optimal footprint of 4'x4' when 12" from your canopy. I would go with 600w lights because they are easier to cool, they will cover all of your tent, they use less electricity, and you can grow taller plants. With a 1000w light in a tent that short you are not going to be able to grow anything over 3-3.5' including the pot. If you think you might go bigger in the future then buy 1000w dimmable ballasts and run them at 600w with 600w bulbs. Running 1000w lights dimmed to 600w actually changes the light spectrum of the bulb.

I planned on buying dimmable ballasts so I think thats what I'm going to do for the first grow, then move up in the second grow.
