5/6 weeks into flowering and hairs are all orange

I'm 5/6 weeks into flowering with my girl scout cookies auto and the hairs have turned mostly all orange. There are some white ones still but not many. I'm using 2 mini LEDs and the temperature ranges from 73 to 75 with lights on. I used to have a t5 in my grow space also and the temps were getting up to 86 degrees in there. I've checked triches and they are all clear still. I'm just hoping the buds are still going to swell.

its about a 10 week flower for GSC if im correct...
which makes you give or take a week or two half way through the flowering process, forget about the colour of your ''hairs'' as it generally means nothing especially if you look lower onto your plant just keep an eye on the trichromes.
 
OK thanks! Can you tell me if its ok to trim leaves on it at this stage in flowering? The plant is super bushy and BC of it having so many leaves, the branches are weighed down and don't stand up at all. Plus not many of the lower buds are getting any kind of light
 
there is certainly a lively debate on defoliation. if you want more lower buds, you need to do more training in veg mode. if it were me, i would add a few metal stakes to hold things up and maybe add some yoyos , do a light defoliation just of any fan leaves covering bud sites and any really low leaves not getting any light anyways. At this point, less stress is important though and there would be a case made for not taking any leaves off at all.

I would avoid plucking leaves, it can only hurt yield IME. Maybe get a tomato cage or some bamboo stakes? Sometimes I use rubber coated garden wire to make double ended hooks to connect 2 sagging branches like the cables on a suspension bridge..
 
Ok. There are a bunch of leaves that hang below the pot that get no light so I'll trim those and I've been trying to tuck the rest of them. I'm definitely going to have to find something to hold the branches up.. Thanks for your help!
 
So you think if I tied a string to the branch and pulled it towards the center and tied it to the main stem it would be ok?
 
It can, kinda depends. Usually they come in 2s, so I tie to the branch opposite the heavy one, it's usually heavy too ;)

Edit: I like the hooked wire better simply because the string can cut or choke the stem, so leave it loose either way
 
don't defoliate. those buds will ripen up nice even if shadowed . if the environment and the feeding is right and the plant is taken care of in general, they should get hard rock even if they are smaller then the top of the branch. the quality of the smoke is what i'm interested in

and for those stems get some silica, dude. feed from seed on and your stems will look so shiny and brand new green to the last day, with bulky nodes
almost plastic looking :D))))))) at least for mine this is what it did

Ok. Its like all the branches are laying flat... I have a royal creamatic that is a week behind that one and it is doing awesome! I'm almost 5'4 and it comes up to my neck. These are all new grows to me so its a different experience so far. Not sure if I like the GSC. I may try it again but its a super bushy plant!

Ok. I'm leaning more towards bringing the branches up and seeing how that goes. I've just never had a plant turn so soon but by the looks of it I'm thinking the smoke will be awesome!
 
defoliating wont really help the buds down the bottom unless you are using powerful lights, you cant expect to penetrate that far without perhaps 1000W HID or equivalent with LED's.
Defoliating helps 100%, however you only need to remove the fan leaves that are restricting the majority of the other bud sites from receiving full light.
Just because your plants are bushy does not mean you need to turn them into stick insect, the plants still need leaves for growth etc if you dont have powerful lights dont try and trim the tree back please.
Just remember for your next grow then training your plants from an early age will give you not only a better yield but also a more manageable canopy, as you can see your main bud is getting max lights and the ones to the sides are receiving useless light.
We train our plants to make sure every bud site can receive USABLE light, a 600W light is best used around 7inches from the tops of your plant which also helps when the there are MULITPLE tops to your plant but all at the same height.
 
I'm not planning on trimming any leaves at the moment... I don't have powerful lights but plan to invest in more lights. Right now I'm probably going to be trying to bring the branches up and tuck away leaves. Thank you for your reply! I was considering trimming at first but needed some input
 
I don't know if you can see it from the picture but what should I do about the leaves hanging below the pot. Any suggestions??

You should be fine to remove all the fan leaves from the bottom 1/3 or so of the plant.
Also try to create an even canopy by bending and tying the main down bring it to roughly the same height as the other if possible

Thanks Po boy! This is my 3rd grow and im regretting growing 4 different strains lol thank you dopeleader! Those were the only leaves I would consider trimming. I'm still learning as I go but I can keep it alive for the most part lol
 
Hehe no problem mate I threw myself into the deep end on my first grow by doing every kind of LST almost known to man haha.
Which was really tough cause I didn't know if it would bounce back but it did.
You should be able to tie those mains down horizontal to match the rough height of your other bud sites.
Careful not to snap the stem so if u gotta bend it 3 time over 5 days that's no big deal slow and steady.
 
I'm gonna do that tonight. If I'm not confident doing something 9 times out of 10, I just leave it alone lol. My first grow, I didn't PH my water and I live in town. I also cropped too early BC my buds came out airy and light. They were very small. And I never changed the light cycle . I kept it on 18/6 the whole time. What do you suggest is a better cycle? 20/4 or 18/6?
 
It's all personal preference but I run mine through veg at 20/4 I used to run 24 hours but the power adds up as I use 2 600w lights.
and I don't believe 24 hours is any better, I know that we're not growing naturally but
Plants outside don't receive 24 hours of light it just gives them a little time to rest etc.
You could swap to 18/6 closer to flower then down to 14/10 then finally 12/12 it should help reduce the stretch while initiating flower quicker too.
