5 Gallon Buckets - leak problems

What should you put under the 5 gallon buckets to catch the water that will fit???

i was thinkin maybe another bucket, a teflon skillet, or a plastic container, will the plastic melt under the light?

HELP please

Also i hear its good to poke holes in the buckets at the bottom, thats why i say this.

Use red bricks to take them off the ground without covering your drainage holes, you may need 2 or 3 bricks per bucket...

if you put a 5gal inside of a 5gal that should work, just keep an eye on the amount of water that fills the bottom buckets.

I would probably get some tupperwear trays though.

Yea tupperwear sounds good, or another bucket. Just gotta find about 10 or 15 and they all gotta fit the buckets too. For one of my buckets I have a big teflon skillet under it LoL . Very ghetto, need to upgrade.

I don't get it, it'll still leak if I raise the buckets from the ground with red bricks????????????????????????????????????????????

um, why dont you double your 5 gal buckets and in the bottom bucket put 1 brick to elevate the bucket above it so you have drainage space?

Theres really only 2 ways of doing that: like you said double the 5 gallon buckets and use bricks, or finding some sorta kitchen or pot tray, thatll fit.

I'm lookin for the least expensive, but if I gotta invest, then so be it.

Dude drainage is good too much water will rot out the root system. Yeah just elevate it up then. Put somethin under neath to collect the water.

the lid from the 5 gal bucket is the easiest solution less u bought buckets with no lids... a lot of ppl just use the lids though cause the rim under the bucket lifts it up enough to let the water drain out and the lid catches the water.... its supposed to leak, the trick is to make it leak as little as possible by adding less water.

I didn't see any 5 gallon bucket lids, but I'll look into that also.

You can find clear vinyl saucers in the garden section at Lowes. Price depends on size, but 17"ers cost just under $2. I use 14" for 7 gallon bags so you should be good there.

10" saucers will not fit a 5 gallon bucket. You gotta measure these things before you spend the money bro.

... at least 12" for a standard bucket. Get the 12"ers.

I did a search for 5 gallon buckets and the standard diameter is like 10.33", plus those saucers are undersized because of the way they curve at the bottom.

I'm just happy to help.

i use 5 gal pots and when i water i have tuppawear underneath then after i water with 1 gallon i wait like 1 to 3 mins and lift the pot out and poor out the RO and replace the tuppawear back while some access water drains it isnt enough to cause rootROT. Thats what i do.

Do you think them curves in the 12" vinyl saucer will affect it UserFriendly??
