Hi! i am absolutely new to growing, but wanted to be good, so followed the general rules: got good potting soil (FoxFarm Ocean Forrest), lights: 6200 Lumins Fluorescent lamp, two days ago added a little bit of Nitrogen Atlas Fish Fert 4-1-1, thinking that my plants are suffering from a Nitrogen deficiency...

But i really don't know! It hurts me to see these babies not developing and dying! Please tell me what is wrong! Some people said its from over watering, but i only water them when the soil is getting dry.
Also towo of them are showing some signs of mites(?) how do you treat that?

Should i replant them into larger pots? Could i keep them under 24 hour light schedule?
what is PH water?

any suggestions are appreciated!!!
THANKS!

yes they need bigger pots.

I treat my spider mites with a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle of water and spray the hell out of them, make sure you really get underneath those leaves too.

I wait a week and then re-treat. Do all the plants, just because you don't see mites on the others doesn't mean they aren't there.

I also dump some of the soapy water into the soil to kell them off there too.

they should be on a 24 hr light schedule as well. what is the ph of your water? How close do you keep the light? What is "getting dry mean"? top, 1/2 inch, or more? =)

i'll try! is it the size of the pots thats stopping them from developing???
and the leaves... just as i start to enjoy their beauty- the lower leaves get pale and then yellow and dye...

Spider mites? Water 750ml, 1 drop liquid dish soap, and 15 ml of Neem oil in a spray bottle. Let it get to room temp, shake the hell out of it, and spray those babies down top and bottoms, spray the soil, pots, table, and floor! do this every week, Same day, for 3 weeks. Raise your light till the sprouts dry or you can burn them where the water or oil is.....

If you can afford it, install an R/O system in your home. they sell test kits, and stuff to adj. ph up or down. I cant recommend any i have r/o. sorry. repot those babies, neem oil them, sounds like your watering fine.

about the lights- i've kept the lights about 15-17 inches away, fearing at first that the light was causing a UV burn on the plants leaves...

uv burn? what type bulbs? I have mine under a 4 bulb t-5 setup, they are within 2" of light, I have a strong breeze on them 24/7 to keep them cool, I mist the soil "not the seedling" 2-3 times a day, to keep moist, and water the pots about every 3 days. if your hand can set, without getting burned, where the tops of your plants are then this is the height where your light should be.

pots? I went from paper towel to jiffy pots on 1/2, and straight to soil on other 1/2, 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 pots is what I'm using. the jiffy pot seeds went into the soil when I saw 1st root come through. At this point I can't see any difference in either method.
