This is my first grow. I had a buddy kinda give me the low down on hydroponics and after ALOT of research here, this is the result thus far, 5 weeks into 12/12. About 3 weeks into flowering. Shes took roughly 2 weeks to show her true colors.
I started with 4 plants. This was the first to sprout, and the only female. When I switched to 12/12 she was about 2ft tall, she quickly shot up to over 4ft tall. With a 1ft cola.
This is just a bagseed from a $70 half o of some low end mids, so I'm really not expecting her to be super frosty. I really just did bagseed to get 1 grow under my belt. All the way from germ to curing. I have learned alot from this grow. What I'll do next time, what I won't do. I couldn't have done it without all the expertise available here.
Now down to the info. I chose to do DWC with the Lucas formula. Seemed pretty straight forward and a good way to get my feet wet. I vegged for 4 weeks under 225 watts of CFL. When I switched to 12/12, I added 156 more watts. And just today I added another 156 watts. Bringing the grand total to 514watts.
I know I know, thats a lot of CFLs, why not just buy HPS? Well a couple reasons, I really haven't put more than $50 into this whole thing. Made mostly with stuff I had lying around the house and a couple Wal-Mart gift cards that were given to me. Heat was another reason. Temperatures are already warmer than I liked, topping out at 88 some days. I'll probably upgrade to HPS sometime in the future, but for now...I'm sticking to CFL
I started with low hopes, thinking I'd only get a quarter from this plant. But its definitely doing better than I thought it would. I know people bash CFLs but I've been thoroughly surprised on what can be accomplished with these. They're not the biggest buds, but they're more than adequate. Cheap, low heat, don't run up the electric bill. For the money and ease, you really can't beat them.
