5 x 5 light set up

Well I did follow the boys advice, 6 x 96 engines at 1035w, yes it worked nicely.

I did learn that the 1-10v potentiometers probably need a 20k resistor added to them. Why? well all 3 drivers ranged from 315-335w running off the pots full noise, but if I disconnected the pots each driver could run at 345w each.

Do I need to precharge coco when I transpot up to bigger pots?

I have just moved em to under the 96s from the strips (damn 120w to 450w, but wind tunnel was running out of room) so I'll give em a few days before they go into the bigger pots, and yes I promise I'll be nice with nutes.

@Prawn Connery bro have you got a model # or head v flow spec on your pump. Current pump is 550 l/hr at 0.75m head and it not gonna cut the mustard.

No, if you are using Canna or Hy-Gen, you don't need to pre-charge your coco because it's already pre-charged with Ca and Mg.

The pump you're using is the one I use - you just have to go to the next size up (750lph, I think).

Well, got an hour today to mess with the big girl a bit. Yip thats a flowmeter on the inlet manifold along with a flow control valve (I'm hoping this will help with measuring nutes in v out and it was 20 bucks so what the hell), yes all feeder lines are same length and I have 2 spare in case I need more volume to a bigger plant or head necessitates a 3rd line for an elevated pot. Waste tray plumbed outside now to.



So I did a bit of a tidy up on the bottom of these babies, branching is insane, can't wait to repot and trellis them. Hard to believe 120w H_influx could do this to 4 of them.

Well these girls are almost ready to flip. I have changed this grow up for individual pots / drippers so will be interesting. A little bit more filling out on the sides and good to go later in the week I reckon. Been battling excess K when I potted up and now excess Ca due to my water hardness, hoping we back on the back straight now, jeez I need to get my VPD sorted, I know......

Junior wind tunnel has been gutted ready for round 2s automation - yes, thats a heating mat, carbon filter exhaust combo controller, it will be a bit crude but hoping it works better than last times nothing!

Also going with a flowmeter / drip manifold / RTW / pump set up as per Prawns ideas V2....

Im fresh out of the hospital from emergency surgery to clear a blockage in my intestines, so I’ll have to take it easy for awhile, but I’ll be up and running soon. These are the next batch in veg before I we in for surgery. All regular seeds so. Have some culling to do

Well things have been hectic round here, wind tunnel has nearly finished renos... and now these 4 girls have come right from my nute problems (I've been running about 5 litres of run off per day) it was time for a quick under prune while they are manageable

I switched from 1000w HID to 2000w LED and I seem to be having a problem with the hanging height. Anyone have any good suggestions?

TBH a cheap lux meter is your friend, as soon as you wind up the power significantly it changes things alot in regard to height for desired ppfd with these 96 engines.

Moving along now.... here is wind tunnel Frank Mk2.
Heating pad and exhaust fitted and hooked up off a controller for 80 bucks, lets me set on/off temps for both heating pad and exhaust (exhaust has been set to a run speed off a rheostat to keep air turnover).

Spaghetti junction and automated feeding coming next week while clonesstrike..

Time for Uv! 2 weeks since flip and today 4 x 2ft 6% Reptile bulbs have gone in. I went with only 6% as I don't want to get in any strife burning them. 1.5hrs at lights on and 1.5 just before lights off. Ramping up to 12hrs over the next 2 weeks.

Not looking too bad at 2 weeks in... 50k lux at highest point in canopy, 42k lux at lower points.

Is it possible to integrate a mister to the air intake hose? Right at the end of the hose so that the mist gets immediately mixed up with the fresh air? Those 24v/1A misters you can find at e3ay produce a lot of mist and you can use a cheap 24v humidity controller to switch it on and off according to the RH in your room.

Controller and relay run on the same 24v/1A wall plug driver. Place the humidity sensor right above the canopy and set the humidity level you want to keep in your room. It also has a cooling effect and temps may sink by 1 or 2°.
24w is a lot and I don't think the mister really takes this much but they produce a lot of mist. Misters cost around 10$ and the controller ~15.. Simply search for XH-W3005 humidity controller..

4,5 x 4,5' with 2m of height means a volume of 3,5-3,7m³. Depending on airflow you maybe need two of them.
I strictly use demi/RO water to make sure they last around a year before you need to replace the membrane.

They can also not work permanently, every 3h they need a break. But it usually don't takes this long to get the room humidity increased. We usually talk about 10-20% more needed humitity and you can reduce the airflow a little because of the cooling effect. 2 of them may need and half hour to bring up the humidity from 50 to 70%. An opened 2l coke bottle and a mister hotglued to the bottom of the bottle works pretty good and 1,5l demi/RO water last up to a week in the best case. Only make sure you're not that lazy then me and forget to fill up, when they run dry it damage the membranes pretty fast. But you can get 10-packs with these tiny membranes only, no need to replace the whole mister.

I have to build something new for my small veg area cuz I can keep the needed level in my bloom area without humidifier. Only in my veg area its impossible to keep levels around 70-80% for the germination and early veg state.

Those mister also work great for rooting clones. Just put it on a timer and let it run 15mins on/15 mins off. Almost as fast as with sprayers..

No fan noise but the air movement is loud! Once I hook up the silencer and carbon filter to the inlet/outlet I'm guessing the pressure drop will reduce the noise.

Nice unit, set a nominal fan speed for scrubbing plus high temp alarm and high humidity alarm which forces fan to ramp up to 100% as required. Not fully automated which is a bit slack (all it needs is a simple PID control loop), just need to work out how to turn off the damn alarm beeping!

The UV bulbs have definitely increased the odour d'cologne!! hopefully translates to mind bending smoko - not that my mind needs to be warped too much more

Nice fan! With wired digital controller, that's nice. Mine has only two built in regulators to set a temp level and rpm limit. This way I can reduce the maximum rpm's and when temps are in range he further dimms down automaticly. No alarm luckily, lol!
If there is no way to simply deactivate it you can still destroy the little tweeter or put a little drop hotglue on it.

Hose, silencer and filter will reduce the noice at least by 10db or so. If the end of the hose goes to the outside you'll hear even less. Most of the noise is coming out of the hose and when I keep the window open I can measure only 38db with my smartphone sensor in 1m distance to my cabinet. Maybe it will be 40-42db in 1m distance to the tent, maybe even less. Such an app can help to find the optimal hanging place and to set the maximum rpm level.

Have created this little carbon filter this weekend for my small veg area to mount it on the back wall but it seems I need to reduce the carbon layer. A 1cm layer should be still enough and should allow more air to go thru.


I will also add an automatic temp controlled PWN controller because its a 12v PC fan. (Skyce, 2500rpm, high pressure radiator fan)
Below the set temp level rpm's will be reduced, above turned up to the max. I also have an even more powerful radial server fan if its not enough air throughput. Noisy but works for sure!

Its lucky we don't live in the same town, between our hair brained ideas we would come up with some crazy shit!
