550W Led vs. 20x Green-o-Matic Autos

I've chopped today 12 of the LED ones but forgot to take pics before, I have taken pics of the ones left as they are not quite there yet as well as the buds. The yield was dismal to the point that it makes it clear the failure was down to grower/medium error rather than the light. 12 plants yielded a paltry 5.99 ounces wet less the obligatory 75% weight loss should give aound 1.5oz dry.....terrible. I really believe my un systematic approach to watering was the real problem.

As for the HPS run, they are really fattening up now but also really struggling in the 1lt pots, they really could have done with more space too but are looking far more healthy and productive than the LED ones.

Pics are just uploading now....

the "airpot" he is using only seems to have holes facing outwards not the double side rounded contours to guide the roots to the holes like the true airpots... i've seen these before somewhere.. not sure if they are an older version of just really terrible knockoffs.. either way there is no way it would be as effective as the true airpot

also in that post 161 i cannot see any pictures of root mass at all.. maybe they are somewhere else but i haven't had a chance to look properly yet...

it kinda reminds me of people that drill hundreds of holes into a bucket and call it an airpot...

I don't want to have to register to see a pic :-(

Okay too lazy to upload pics individually so here is the link to to album, for the ones unaware...please recognise that the plants up against the wall in air pots are under the HPS. The LED plants left are either still not ready by about another 2 weeks....* I know* ....behind. Or they have had their tops taken off for the lower buds to ripen up a touch, even with the 6 plants left I presume about another 1-2oz dry will come from them. It all depends on whether the two slower ones can pack on enough to get there.

The HPS run has another 2 weeks to go but may even be ready in a week possibly, the room is warmer than usual due to weather so I think has hastened the flowering.

looks about as conclusive as heath ledgers autopsy..
that "airpot" that he is using is definitely not a proper airpot - looks like some shitty knockoff to me..

bellend..
Does it still seem "suspicious" to you? LOL

I can personally vouch having 15 REAL Airpots that they are messier and less effective than Smartpots. Also having trouble with the little blue fasteners breaking and I did an outdoor run in one and had the pot itself get brittle and crack. Won't see a fabric pot doing that. In fact, I'm trying to get rid of my Airpots on Craigslist right now but no ones interested. Worst $125 I ever spent on a grow related "trend." But you keep questioning the quality of the side by side when you haven't done shit.

Pics look nice newworld, HPS def looks fatter. You gonna give the LEDs another go? Maybe get the watering dialed in?

Guys please don't shit in my thread by arguing. @colorado I have put new plants in soil under the LED today, I will make another thread with links soon enough.

Sweeet! Looking forward to it

And sorry, mant keeps acting like there's a conspiracy going on or I'm trying to pull a fast one. I don't believe either of those things are true and I would like to see you run Smartpots because I know they'll do better for you. Nothing ELSE going on here mant! Last I'm gonna say on the matter though, I got him ignored.

I've really struggled to find smart pots here, if I can't get them by the end of the week it will be the air pots but I was quite impressed with them, the 1ltr was far too small but they have done really well considering the factors. Right now the ones under the LED are simple 12ltr standard pots.

Oh no question the Airpots work better than regular pots, I just think that Smarts improve on the idea. I'll be here either way bro!

I wonder which is more sustainable? Recycled plastic into airpots, or making these smart pot bags(considering they don't last as long)? Anyone have any idea? I'm just throwing that our there for my curiosity

Smart pots are good but if u wanna transplant you run into a major problem. The roots grows into the soft fibres of the pot. Real airpots, twist the lock and fold it open, simple as that.

I would say airpots are more sustainable. Works just like normal pots except the extra air and rootpruning.

I've used the same 2 gallon veg Smart pot though 5 transplants. It still seems fine, but they're way cheap to replace if something happens. Considering the Smart pot would probably break down in nature I'd pick it over plastic. We wouldn't need to recycle plastic if we could stop using it!

Hmm I haven't had any issues with transplanting. Sounds like you're waiting too long? How long have you had your Airpots? Wait til they start doing this and you have to go buy more (see pic) I'd also say the Smartpots do more air and more rootpruning, it's fabric vs plastic.

All valid points my friend, especially the last image. A few of my pots are screwed already from that exact shearing of the plastic.

How long did you use it and did you put any screws in that spot? Mine seem very strong to me, and I have all sizes up to 5 gallon. The plastic on yours looks more wrinkly, maybe it was from a less than perfect batch? Or it was twice recycled? :P Damn recycling! Why can't they just make these things out of Hemp? haha

Mine were new, first grow.

Mine were also new. I got like 10 of the 3 gallon and 5 of the 5 gallon. I've found issues with a few others where the plastic just gets "stretched" rather than actually cracked and the screws won't hold. Not taking anything away from the effectiveness of Airpots, they're much better than regular pots, I just think Smartpots are better. And even if they were identical, the Airpots are such a little bitch to water. I can just slosh water into the Smartpots and they're good to go. My 2 cents!

Sorry I keep turning your thread into a pro Smartpots rant neworld. I also responded to your post over in LED Users Unite with some light height info
